Depends on make and model.  Some are as little as 600Kg.  Most stuff on the arse of an Artic is usually rated at around 1,000Kg.  Of course, they are just SWL.  They will actually lift a lot more when no H&S is employed.  :-\

That reminded me of a few years back when my Carlton blew a core plug when I was between caravan sites. Mr. Green Flag took me on to a site in Cornwaii, and the site owner directed him to a good local garage.
When we arrived at the garage, the recovery vehicle had lost hydraulics to the rear section, so poor Carlton was stuck up in the air and couldn't be inloaded. With a little lateral thinking, the garage man told the driver to back his vehicle as closely as possible to his garage ramp.
The rest is obvious - Carlton driven onto ramp, recovery man shame-facedly drove away.....

I'd like to see what happened next. I suppose front end artic reversed as the Omega reversed into the artic. Would need careful co-ordination.

It's a Volvo V70, but the lifts go up, one left deliberately 2-3 inches lower one truck reverses until the lifts over lap... car is then simply driven or reversed into the lorry of choice :y

Very clever. A ramp would have been easier.
