Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Battery gets drained overnight ?
« on: 27 December 2017, 18:26:06 »
Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and glad that this community exists.

This is probably a very long shot, but I will try to explain.

I bought a 2.2dti 2001 omega.

It was working fine, but then one day it just wouldn't start,... dead battery !

So since this was a used car and the battery was 4 years old already, i got another one (varta 70ah)

It also worked fine for like 2 or 3 days but then it just wouldnt start.

So I took a multimeter and noticed voltage drop on fuse12.

I then took my battery to charge with a home charger (not the smart type, the dumb type that can damage the battery..)
and since then, I have put the battery back and I make sure to remove fuse12 when i step out of the car to make sure i dont drain the battery overnight.

Well, of course I forgot to remove the fuse a couple of times, and now the new battery is almost dead (wont hold the charge for long)

So I know I will have to buy another battery now, and that is OK, but i of course dont want to damage this new battery.

So my question is : Has anyone had a similar issue ?
I know this is a long shot because fuse 12 in this car at least seems to power so many things (instrument cluster, warning light, heat control, colour info display (even though mine isnt working), etc....)

as a sidenote, but that might be very relevant to the discussion here, i noticed when i bought the car, that if all lights are turned off (as in typical daylight situation) and i press the brake pedal, then the driver side front parking light (the dimmest light) turns on (and my bad, i never really cared to have it looked at before)

if anyone has any clues, or any question, please feel free to comment :)
(and sorry for any mistakes, english is not my native tongue)
