OK, following on from yesterdays 14 car blether in a carpark, suggestions were requested for another place to have another meet, preferably with overnight accomodation.... Knowing its heading fast for wintertime and we would prefer overnight accomodation at cheap (free-ish) rates, I may have the possibility of the use of a wooden bothy at THIS (http://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/clova/clova/index.html) location. Used it last year with my Scouts and we had a hoot....
Its basically secure inside 'camping' - cook your own, communual kipping in sleeping bags/roll mats on the floor and outside toilets/basic washing facilities. Belongs to local Air Cadet group that would be looking for a donation of sorts for its use. Its pretty much central (Dunkeld area) but is the middle of nowhere, really nice walking territory out towards Jocks Road. Its far enough away from civilisation (but 25 feet from the carpark) that we could make almost as much noise as we wanted without fear of any demon warden evicting us....
For those who prefer more luxurious surroundings, the Clova Hotel is a few miles along the road. It's a really nice place and popular with climbers etc. See reference to climbers bar and drying room etc.
As said, simply one suggestion to promote others..... :y

When its warmer gets my vote, any time except June when the Omega will be on its way to Espania again. As a halfway house geordie I will translate Broocies phrase " a dook in the burn ". This means to take advantage of a nearby stream or river to facilitate personal washing when no other alternatives are available.

Sounds as if there are a few good ideas floating about.
As long as there's omega talk and tinkering, some occasional frivolity and general larking and tomfoolery. Washed down wi' a wee dram or twa.
Looking 4ward to it.
LETS GET IT DONE PEOPLE!

Does the bothy ( HUT ) have sky, tv that is?

Well theres a river runs down the glen, (which is good for swimming) theres two bridges, and you have a choice of taking the high or low road to the Clova Hotel (the high road to the left is better :y) , and take the low road on the way back :y, theres also a wee walk up the side of one of the mountains, where you can view eagles rock and lochnagar from, about an hour from the hotel :y, alternatively you can do the 14 mile hike across Jocks road to the pub in Breamar ;D ;D..............or just stay at the Clova [smiley=beer.gif] [smiley=beer.gif]

Happy enough to go with the carpark idea meantime with the Glen Clova bothy concept for later in the spring. Only potential drawback with the later spring date is hut availability......Agreed, I think we need to go firm on a date soon for the Glen Clove meet, No.1 for the avaliabliaty of the bothy and No.2 so members can plan time of work if they know the dates well in advance etc, and No.3 So we can book good weather ;D ;D

Just thinking, if I'm coming from Borrheed!! and your coming from Clydebank, I think it might be quicker to go throw Milngavie and head to Stirling that way or we could meet up in the city centre again and head up the A80 and meet up with the East Kilbride & Coatbridge Posse's at the Cumbernauld Service's (shell station) and head up the M80, what do you think!!
I've added kev's name to the list
i will be returning from aviemoore that sunday with the van on the back after a lads weekend so i wont be at callender ,thats a pity cause the queensferry was a cracking turnout :'(Don't worry, there will be plenty more meet's :y
Well lads I am afraid I will have to forget all about attending this meet, even if the pies are warmed in an oven. Her indoors has been waiting 4 months to have a bit of skin cancer removed from her nose. She is now entitled to have it done immediately as she has waited so long, guess when the surgery is taking place ? Yep, on that very Sunday. I have asked if I could drop her off at the RVI in Newcastle, come to Callender for lunch and pick her up on the way back, reply cannot be put on here. Sorry, I was looking forward to a ride out as well.Quote17th is fine. Callender? Fords arent too bad, my Meega has been a revelation into the GM family after being a Ford nut for as long as I can remember.
I cant say I am a complete convert, but a 60/40 balance favoured towards Ford is my suit.
It doesn't make me a bad person, I really like Meegas, especially mine, I can't really see myself getting rid of it.
Anywho, wot sort of times are we talking about? Meeting? Convoy?

Looks like I may have to become a doubtfull attendee..... :-[Sorry to hear that, hopefully not to much damage and you can make it :)
Just back now (2100 hrs or so) this evening from a few days away to discover my 22 year old has put his car through a severe pothole earlier this evening and damaged both offside rims and tyres and has probable suspension damage as well. Will need to examine car better in the morning and, if needed, go car shopping in a hurry as he needs it for Monday morning.....
His wallet, not mine..... ::)
