I'm going to see nurse Dracula in half an hour, then we can have our annual 'discussion' about statins.
Done, I'll wait for the phone call to tell me I'm not very well and I should take some nice statins.

I'm sure your Gristlers pasty & palm oil filled shortbread were just the top up your LDL cholesterol needed to keep you as unfit as a fiddle. ::)

I am a really firm believer in playing the hand you are dealt. There is no heart disease in my family, nor diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer...anything. We were dragged up on corned beef, cheap sausages and scouse. I smoked 40 a day for years and drank heavily, as did my brothers. We are all still here and still well.

Mental health is a matter of opinion...... ;D

Had a very intense conversation with a very pretty junior doctor, (female) :D when i was at Papworth for my second, and successful, ablation. The subject was statins. She was banging on about how wonderful they were, to which i replied, how do you know, you,re only about 25? Now, some years later my cholesterol is lower than when i was taking the stuff. Haven,t got the aches and pains in the joints either. :y

I have very few living relatives because most of them were dead from either cancer or heart disease before they got to my age. Several of them didn't even see their 40th birthday. Maybe Im the lucky one ? We shall see I  suppose.

I really do appreciate your kind words of support, folks - and the p1ss-takes too! Lycra indeed!
It's not only my diabetes to worry about, but the stage 4 kidney disease that's the bigger threat, plus the uncertainty regarding the suspected cancer.
I do check my blood sugar level; four pricks per day...steady, Lizzie ;D

;D ;D ;D ;D but that is not enough Ron; I prick myself up to 8 times a day, or even more if I believe there is something wrong with my sugar level. Just a shame my love for the blood tester machine has replaced the love from a fit man! ::)  ::) ;D ;D ;D ;)
