I've been in hospital for a while. I am back home now and finally gained access to my keys using the bootlace with loop method.

Thanks all for your help.  :y
Hope you're ok, Andy  :-\

Getting there Stemo. Just going to take a while to get back to where I was before being admitted.

Thanks for asking.  :)

Whatever you do, don't break the quarter window.

It's a pita to swap out. If the door is ajar, that should make bending it open enough to fish the keys out with a coat hanger  :y

I almost broke it this morning in desperation. I'll try the other.

Breaking any window is this situation is an idiotic thing to do. But as DG said, the quarter window is the worst to break, because you have to remove the drop-glass to replace it.

By the time you've sourced a replacement window, fitted it and cleared up the mess, paying someone who knows what they're doing to open the car for you is a more economical solution. I say this having replaced all three side windows a month ago

But with the door partially open, some easily improvised tools(like carving a slim wedge out of a scrap piece of wood) and some swearing will get you in the car without any damage/costs.

Will give that ago Nick after the rain goes off.

I’ve done the first one with the shoe lace on an omega only took about 10

minutes of trying but it definitely works..     https://youtu.be/dpuVqMnEtIs

Was that on the facelift model?

Do you have a spare key?

Are you in the AA or RAC as they should help.

Other than that - a sledgehammer other than that I dont have a clue.

Hope you get sorted.

Only use the car very local, so don't have any breakdown cover.

does it have manual rear windows? If so, apply insulating tape to the paint edges and gently pry the top rear edge out using a wide thin tool - a brick bolster is good. Then wind the wind the window down using a long flexible tool like a length of brake pipe.

If the keys are in the ignition, and it's on, that technique can be used on the window switch.

If you can see and reach the keys, you might be able to press the lock button.

The best way is to use the spare key.....

It's electric windows Nick and the keys are on the back seat.

The back door is not fully closed just one click. Didn't realise that the kids been messing with the drivers door buttons, so I just pushed the rear button down and closed the door.

Then when I went back to get in the car, no keys there on the back seat.

I've gone and locked my keys in the car.

This is a nightmare now as I have urgent Doctors appointment to get to.

The car is not dead locked. Please is there anyway to get into the car?

Thanks

Tried getting the N/S side out the other day and it cracked. Managed to find a pair, left and right on Ebay but the seller sent 2 O/S ones. Trying to sort it out at the moment but the seller hasn't replied.  :(

I can see the the tabs. My Omega is a 2003 with the clear lens. Do I insert the blade from the front end of the car or rear?

They're M8. And the threads aren't long enough for a nyloc, which is why a spring/star/so-called-lockwasher is used

Thanks Nick. I'll see if I can find one.  :y
