Drove over to my localish dealer this afternoon to order some parts and when I pulled up I had smoke coming out from under the bonnet!    When I had a look there's smoke coming up the side of the nearside of the engine so I've got an oil leak and it's dripping on to the manifold.

Quite common that when the rocker/cam cover gaskets leak.... I had it until i changed the covers for Vectra items and genuine gaskets, and not had a single problem since but you'd probably already know this anyway

How do the crank seals feel about that arrangement...

I think vectra ones look better as long as you keep your breathers clear then each to there own

Yes, but I think the bit of string had a kink in it somewhere!     Besides it's easier to blag cheap oil face to face!
