I cant understand the obsession with low mileage.
Cars that are rarely used suffer all kinds of problems that cars with plenty of miles, but well looked after dont.  ???

Yep …..

Agreed,my v70 is on 212 k now and still feels tight

A friend hit a pothole in his Volvo something 40 and got a puncture. Garagesaid your alloy is wrecked too. He says it is all the heavy EVs wearing out the roads.   ;D

Trouble is all the modern cars have rubber bands for tyres, older cars with bigger Balloon tyres never suffered all the wheel damage as the tyre absorbed it. Run flats are worst of the lot for buggering wheels

I do think the design of the XJ has aged well. It's a handsome beast.
Its passable from the front of side, but by god, its got a pig ugly arse.

Very true, can't understand that as the XF arse is quite smart, recently drove a lwb jag xj and it's a lovely thing on the road even though it's huge

Booked the Alabama Mumsybus in for a couple of wheel bearings.

By the time I have wasted days getting replacement hubs and getting the bearings changed on them to make the actual job easier... (swapping hubs is an hour or so vs trying to dig the old bearings out on the drive), I concluded that I really CBA so it's going to a local indie for it.

This is the reality for a good percentage of jobs on cars these days for me, especially with limited daylight this time of the year, roll on the summer!

Took the headlights off the Boxster to polish them up.
Takes about 20 seconds per unit to remove them.  8)

Sounds like the module itself to me.

My thoughts as well tbh, might put a wanted add in parts for one :y

As in the title, has power to the module under seat and motors can be run with a power probe butnothing from any of the switches, passenger side works as it should, any ideas gents?

If you can clip the meter on it so that you can see it as you turn ignition over you’ll probably find that it drops to around 8 Volts under load. Likewise, if you get it running you should see over 14 Volts to check alternator output. It’s done quite well so new battery time.  :y  You could always use Kevin’s battery charging/checking guide for peace of mind.  :y

I'm getting around 14.5 Volts with the silky V6 running.

New battery time then.  :y

Yep,battery fooked :y

Treated the Omega to a new pair of Bosch wipers. Havent tried them yet, but hopefully they wont be shite.
The screeching on the old ones drove me to distraction.

Bosch are the only ones I'll buy,the rest are crap

Yeah, what could possibly go wrong with that setup ;D

So a device designed to save the planet actually causes more harm due to such a daft design. Quality.

Yeah ,lets strap a small ecu to the floor of the car 6 inches off the ground, what could possibly go wrong ::)

Fired up Pierre and reversed it out through the gates onto the drive, ready to call the scrapman to come and collect it.
Then decided to have one last look at the oil leak, leaving aside all previous thinking on the matter, and I had a completely new idea what the problem is
Will find out when I have time over the next few days if Im right or wrong, but it may yet be back on the road.  :D
Just shoot the damn thing already...  :D

The cost of replacing it is a lot more than it was a couple of years ago. ;)
Anyhoo -This is a shortened version,  from the start of the problem it has been spraying oil from somewhere around the cam pulley, over the bulkhead, servo etc.
Obvious choice was camshaft oil seal. That didnt cure it, so new camshaft and another oil seal which still didnt cure it
Today I started it up again and adopted the attitude, it shouldnt be from the camshaft area, so where else could it be coming from ?
After looking as best I could with a torch (its pretty cramped and very oily) I had the thought, that it may well be actually leaking from the crank seal and dripping onto the cambelt. Then getting taken up higher on the belt before getting sprayed out when the belt runs over the cam pulley.
I have a crank seal in the shed, so will pull it apart one last time, fit the seal, and then test my theory.
We shall see.   :)
If it does turn out to be the crank seal I will be happy and pissed off in equal measure.
Pissed off because I should have thought of it a long time ago, but got tunnel vision and didnt stop to think harder about possible causes..  ::)

When you've pulled it apart previously is the timing belt always soaked in oil ?

That Transit is repeatedly described as original, but in the same blurb it has been repainted.

Now I know I can be a bit contrary, but surely, if it has been repainted, then it cannot be original  :-\

Original my ass,no Transit ever left the factory looking that good
