Corsa Rear Brakes: How much!!!!
« on: 13 April 2019, 10:46:44 »

Hello all.
I am over there at the moment (Mallorca) and the Corsa failed the ITV for faulty rear brakes after being left for 9 months. Put it into local garage this week and got it back yesterday with a bill for €350 (around £310). That included both sets rear pads, cylinders, springs etc. Does my fellow Oofers think that is a fair price or not? TIA.  :y :y

I don't know but it's a bit late to do anything about it now.

Parts and a couple or three hours labour... Not unreasonable even in Spanish ;)

I have a friend in Spain who had his rear brakes on his Beetle (1984 old style) done. Again this was drums, shoes and cylinders but also included further diagnostic which they insisted on doing (losing fluid). He paid 350Euro, so it appears this is the norm over there.

I doubt I'd have got much change from £300 from my local garage for that job to be honest.  :-\

Shoes are what £25 each
Wheel cylinders £15 each
Springs £25 each
Drums (really?) £25 each

So all in £180 and say 1.5 hours tops labour.

That said, I have never needed to change drums or shoes!.
