Corsa C.....passenger footwell leak.
« on: 26 April 2019, 14:41:10 »

I removed the battery and base for the battery before clearing out the assorted leaves and crud below. Pretty clear overall.

I believe the leak is coming from the  fuse/relay box located next to the battery. The rubber seal has perished.

Vauxhall tell me I can't buy the rubber seal alone.

True or utter b*llocks?

clean the area around the seal etc with brake cleaner, so it's spotless/dry and re-seal with silicone injecting it into all the gaps with a mastic gun.smear it flat so the water runs off out of the flap
or get a tube of rtv silicone
clicky
you won't harm the resale value any  ;D

I did the same on both of our corsas ,some may consider it a bodge  ::), but silicone seals well and allows for slight movement , that's why they put it round baths, sinks showers  :y

True but the whole cover is cheap enough......or bash some sealant in the groove where the seal sits

I don't want to sound like a miserable old fart.......but in the good old days it was easier to buy individual parts. :)

I have some 'no frills' silicone sealer from Screwfix. What's the worst that can happen.... ;)

I've ordered the cover and gasket complete from  a Vauxhall main dealer.

£15.66 including the VAT. :y

£15.66 is about 10% of the value of a 2003 Corsa 1.2SXI.

...........only 29000 miles though. :y
