Collected the Merc from Mr Clutch...

And drove it home. Service and odd job list can wait until the end of June when I return from holibobs... :D

Took it for an emergency trip to (near) Brent Cross to pick up £50k of servers....

...and, yes, got stuck in that North Circ SNAFU :(

Still, worse ways to spend a Thursday afternoon, as the weather was pleasant, and listening to Steve Wright was better than the usual dross I listen to at work (mongs making stupid decisions based on ego rather than talent).  Only ruined by some idiot in a Galaxy on the M1 who felt the need to brake test me, then swerve towards me every time I attempted to overtake.  Not sure what his issue was, as being on works time, I was cruising along at the speed limit, on a near empty motorway  :-\

Not my first choice, admittedly but local garage was messing me around and I needed it done.

Said local garage won't be getting as much as an MOT out of me again.

It wasn't me (or SWMBO) ;)
I spent the morning topping up the auto transmission fluid in SWMBO's Galaxy. It took about 1/2 litre to get the level right - not sure how significant that is  :-\

The new rules come into effect on the 20th May, hence putting them both in tomorrow!  ;)

I'm not sure what regime any retest will come under though.  The rules under which it was tested or the new rules.  :-\

But if it passes the BEEN WASHED part of the MOT , it may fail next week if it gets dirty  ;D

not that much has changed MOT wise , especially if it's an older car ,
yes ,if you have one of them dirty diesel contraptions
even then, Italian tune up before you take for test would help a lot
I bet mot stations have been rammed pre 20th
sods law,  I got to take one of the astras for a ticket in the next week or so, I'll wait till after the rush  ;D
on the plus side , there will be a shed load of ' easy fix MOT fails ' for sale shortly   :)

Sounds as though their bad rep is justified.  :( :-\

at least they will get chance to tighten all the stuff they left last time , :y
I expect all the 'spare' bolts, nuts washers etc they had left over will be swept up by now though  :-\

I've only used Mr Clutch once (then again I've only ever changed about 4 clutches). It was the one in Leicester in about 2013 and I found them to be exemplary, did the job in the stated time, and were most helpful in dealing with the AA for me (I had the AA repair cover thing that pays £500 towards the cost of a repair following a breakdown) despite significant push-back because it was a clutch and they're normally wear n tear, although mine was a fault.

Sorry you're having issues, like all national chains, I  suppose its down to who your branch manager is and the quality of the local team ;/
