Vectra aircon working poorly
« on: 16 July 2019, 09:17:55 »

My 2008 101K miles Vectra has failing aircon. Code reader reads aircon pressure 0.3 volts and 100kPa. Is it worth having it regassed?

The car is over 10 years old, it'll have lost gas. Only you can decide if you can/want to spend £50 on a re-gas to see if the system still works  :y :y

This. Although a regass might work, at 100k miles it will be due the radiator. We had three in our taxi fleet and they all started leaking within 500 miles of each other

Change the radiator whilst you're there.

Both a 45 minute job without jacking* the car... With a pit, even less time as they drop out from below :y

*raising the front slightly to improve access doesn't hurt, but with a pit, no need.

Incidentally, the radiator was £100 or so from VX, certainly considerably less than an Omega one :y

Had mine done a few weeks after i bought it, (due to it being the dead of winter when i first got it so too cold to check it worked properly). Guy who tested it said system was empty of refridgerant but system was not leaking. Also pressure wouldn,t settle on test but kept climbing so he had to stop the test. :D Anyway, decided that i would save the planet ::)  and not bother to keep slinging parts at it. So far just open the windows at start up to let the heat out and go from there. :y

I could manage without air con, but my dog certainly couldn't. I have icicles on the end of my nose at the front, but the dog is still panting in the back.
