Omega General Help / Re: Coolant level low
« on: 05 September 2015, 16:28:24 »
Remove the plenium and intake manifold and have a look at the oil cooler plate, it runs between the v of the engine and it is prone to leaking and it leaves a crusty white/pinky stain, it will also let you see the coolant bridge between the cylinder heads at the rear of the engine, this also leaks where the banjo bolts go through the bridge.
At the front of the v is the thermost housing and transfer pipe, this is also a common leak area but be warned that the housing and transfer pipe can be a bugger to seperate without damage to either part. IF all shows no signs of leaking then move onto the rear of the 2 4 6 head, and as you have removed the intake it will give you more scope to see any issues. use a mirror to see where your eyeballs wont get to.
good luck and post back any findings and pics if needed.
Gary.

Omega General Help / Re: Payen rocker cover gaskets
« on: 18 August 2015, 18:04:41 »
Do it once, do it properly mate, you will be replacing again soon and its more involved when the motor is fully built up.
But it is your money so go with what you feel is good for you.

Omega General Help / Re: Help with a Cadillac Catera?

As above remove the cabin pollen filter and in the corner you can see the drain hole. clear it gently with a small pipe brush. if full of water then use your finget to locate the drain and use the brush.
check regular and replace the cabin pollen filter.

Best bet would be a cat from a breaker on here rather than a cheap aftermarket, that will be poor quality and last no time at all.
Normally several being broken for parts, post up in the wanted section and see what you get.
