a belated hello to all.........
« on: 24 November 2006, 13:30:00 »

Hi all, this is a belated hello to all ! i dived straight in to the q&a - so eager to find things out about the new car!!!
some of you may have already replied to me regarding some of my threads but to fill ya all in 'bout me.... i work for grittish bass as a domestic appliance engineer so may be able to offer some dom apps advice to ya- also do household electrics and household alarms.
live in sunny kings lynn and my missus lives in the house next to me --cushdy!!!!!  use the omega for runs to peterboro' and back x2 every fortnight to pick up the daughter, so it gets long regular runs and have other transport for the lesser trips. so there you have it, will speak to ya all when i thread next.
ps when is the next santa pod meet?   i would love to visit that place as my yank grandad used to repair battle damaged b17s there when it was an air base during the war.

Hello & welcome  :)
Can't see there being a Santa Pod meet til it gets warm. We were there in Oct & although we were lucky with the weather it was still cold!

Hi toneavenger and welcome aboard :y Sounds like you've got the perfect scenario....wife living next door - a bit like that TV comedy many years ago My Wife Next Door. Don't think there's likely to be another Pod meet until next year now, hopefully when it's warmer. However, keep your eye on the Meets section of the forum as new meets pop up now and again - you may have seen we had one at South Mimms last weekend - all 3 of us!! Ended up in my local pub.  ::) [smiley=beer.gif]

No offence ment but, something I have always wondered, what engineering qualification do you have for that role?

Its a common discussion point me and a few mates have in the pub about the miss use of the phrase 'engineer'

i.e

Quote
Engineers are people who are experts in technology. They design machines, computer programs, buildings, chemical processes, etc. They use science to make new, better things

Quote
technician - a worker trained with special skills, especially in science or engineering

Hi, probably the latter cos if we have a view on improving an appliance they certainly wouldn't listen to us !  apart from that my training was city and guilds, nvq, gas handling cert, microwave technology and health and safety at work cert ! plus the customary on the job updates. regards a domestic appliance fiddler thingy !!

Commonly misused term, most people in the UK would want a Technician working on their car rather than an Engineer.

Bit different in Europe though.

Welcome anyway, talking of domestic appliances, my washing machine has just packed up...
