Thank you, minifreek. If it weren't for Google's logo of the day, it would have slipped by unnoticed!
We being English have no need to boast, we KNOW we are superior, but maybe a little more celebration would be nice?
On St. Patrick's day, you can't turn anywhere without being reminded of the fact, especially in pubs.....

General Car Chat / Re: Reddex - Good, Bad or Pointless?
« on: 21 April 2015, 18:18:01 »
I asked a similar question a while ago, DBG. I cannot remember what responses I got (old age and fading memory?), but thinking about it, when it was customary for garages to have Redex dispensers by the pumps - penny per shot, one shot per gallon - it was supposed to lubricate the upper cylinder areas. Nowadays, with the sinful (not!) lead having been removed from petrol and the valve stem clearances opened up to provide the stem lubrication that the lead used to, the cylinders get enough oil that way, so surely no need for additional oil?
I do concur that an occasional petrol treatment for the health and well-being of the injectors is worth doing, though.....

Rumour has it on here that you know EVERYTHING, Al, so why can't you find them...?

I apologise in advance to the force members on here, but I was told by an ex-plod that most coppers try to do little or nothing until their 30 years are up - then it's Pension Time!
It'd dangerous out there and is easier in the canteen, apparently.....

Did you see that Victor Meldrew episode where as a chauffeur he destroyed the three classic cars belonging to his employer (John Bird) one by one? Including driving into a garage that had its floor excavated away into an enormous pit.....

I would hold a door open for anybody behind me, regardless of gender, simply because it's the polite and gentlemanly thing to do: however, if such action elicited the response you outlined, MY response would be anything but gentlemanly!
It's surprising how many fish need bicycles these days.....

Unfortunately Pete, if you were to do that you could be done for criminal damage. As far as I am aware, your simply "donating" a padlock to aid his security would not be illegal - just a kindly gesture?

You could always be kind to him and "lend" him a really substantial padlock for his lock-up - just to make sure that novillain attempts to steal your car or any of his belonings in there?
He may well want to rush over to you and thank you for your consideration......

If that surface rust is superficial, it may just be a question of rubbing down with wire wool and applying grease over the bare metal to protect it - most testers love to see fresh grease as it shows you care!

If he has sent you a text message you will have his cellphone number. The phone company ought to provide you with his location, but if they are reluctant to do so, when you report it to the police they will "encourage" them to do so for you.....

I forgot to mention a side benefit of AuctionStealer; if you see the price running away from you or change your mind, you simply cancel your bid on Stealer - that also resets your freebie count back one!
