Just screwed one back together, having done thermostat, breathers and 1-3-5 coil pack. Next up is to drill the heads off the airbox screws and change filters and oil... Think 0005 on a Saturday morning is a tad antisocial to be using power tools.

(if we were in the old house it would only blend in with the sounds of sirens, stabbings, and the FUTFUTFUT of arterial bleeds...)

Rad/Oil cooler etc.. removed ready to change the condenser, Picked up the A/C O rings today ready to replace the old GM Delphi (probably original) Condenser, Everything is ready just waiting for the rain to go away now.... ::)

Presumably these are the correct ones...

Look the same VX ones I just used - my old ones were mint, but I changed them anyway. You only need 2, so you have 2 spares  :y

Yeah gathered as much, But they wouldn't sell just two. Was luck to get them at all tbh had to explain for 5 minutes on the phone  ::)

They may look mint but they are probably far from it, Last year I replaced the door bushes due to a loud clicking noise and they looked perfectly fine to the naked eye so cleaned them up an re-greased an they still where noisy but once the new ones where fitted SILENCE  ;D :y

Wheels on the MV6 were looking a bit tired . . need to home refurb ready for Wycombe I thinks  :y

So took 'em off Friday afternoon . Jet washed & degreased.

Did not need much prep work as hardly any damage , just the silver had worn away & gone very dull with the primer showing through .

Rubbed down with 400 grade wet/dry sponge pads.  2 coats of grey primer/filler . .  rub down with 600 sponge

2 coats of Star Silver II  base coat  & finished with 2 coats of 2 pack lacquer on Saturday afternoon

All come up very nice IMO :y :y        had the base coat & lacquer in the shed so no cost there  ;) ;)

Quick double coat of Red  ( as standard here in blingy Essex  ;D ;D )  on the calipers .

Sunday  . . . just waiting for the rain to stop to refit wheels  :'( :'(

Also have  sent off for a set of flea bay  chrome wheel nut covers  . . . very Essex Bling !   ;D ;D ;D ;D

So apart from the pre meet "spring clean & polish, all ready for Wycombe  8) 8) 8)

Well pleased with outcome  . . .Happy days  :y :y :y

Just been out to it and checked oil/coolant levels[both ok]but noticed oil smear on to of offside cam cover near front of engine, pulled plug leads off to find recesses full of oil!Time for new cam cover gaskets methinks, possibly may need replacement covers too[ knowing my luck they'll be warped]

Today fitted a replacement alternator, and it works.  :)
Thanks to the great guides on this forum I managed to get the bagpipes out, together with the non functioning alternator, yesterday.(not in a rush!!).
Sounds stupid, but feel a lot more confident about working on the car now, great forum, thanks :y

Drove it to work and back. Cannot work out whether the whine that has developed over the last 5000 miles is differential, auto gearbox or perhaps wheel bearings :-\

Jacked up the rear, using the cunningly left in place tow bar bracket behind the diff ;) in an attempt to diagnose my "woom woom wooming" noise from the back. Chocked front wheels, engine on, in gear, set cruise (hope to god it doesn't topple off the stands and fire into the house at 50 :o ;D ) round the back, have a listen....

.....nothing. Not a dickybird. Right rear tyre is slightly out of round. Slightly more shushing from that disc, but other than that.... :-\
