500bhp V6 Insignia Grand Sport

Can imagine this would have quite a hefty price tag, Definitely won't be cheap and that's if it will even be made or sold in the U.K.

That 3.6 is an infinitely superior engine compared to the old 3.8... even without a blower on it ;)

It's just another variant of the high feature V6 platform (as per the 2.8 V6 )

Going through the 4x4 system? I'd bet that won't last long, can see second hand examples being made RWD only.

Something to consider in 5 years time, should be a depreciation disaster  :)

Fixed... wwd cars with a rear diff. Prop shaft driven by a clutch on the front diff rather than a transfer box as per a traditional 4x4

I suspect the flimsy, token "it's not FWD, honest" drivetrain to the rear wheels would probably struggle with 50 BHP let alone 500 BHP.  ;)

Fair enough, so actually pointless than, other than huge torque steering Insignia?

I love my diesel CC, but even that is approaching the limits really of FWD power with it's torque. I would not want that kind of horse power going through the fronts only  :-\

The 160 bhp diesel was a hoot on b roads and fast a roads with it's 60/40 rear bias in sport mode, likewise the 325bhp VXR 8)

Not sure that the system will be quite so good in 10 years time... especially if driven the way that the power would suggest...

That said, I know that you can get 350 bhp from an Omega for a fraction of the cost of a new Insignia...

Fixed for accuracy.  Plus if yours is approaching 80k yet, that suspension at the front will have lost a lot of its taughtness.

There are a lot of more powerful/torquey FWD soot chuckers out there...

Will this car ever reach our shores?

To start with, as I understand, Holden is not going to produce it's own separate range for the small Australian market; this was a news item recently.

Secondly, note the following statement in the article:

"Elsewhere, due to PSA Peugeot Citroen’s recent buyout of the Vauxhall brand, plans for a high-power Astra hot hatch have been put on hold. Despite seeing success from the now defunct previous-generation Astra VXR, management has decided to focus on mainstream engine and trim combinations before switching to a PSA-produced platform by 2025."

So will any big engined cars be produced under the Vauxhall brand, now it is owned by PC?

With the move towards electric "green" cars within the industry, why should they?

It's funny, people ALWAYS say that about a new model!
