Loud Thumping Bass
« on: 14 July 2009, 00:55:55 »

Hi all , just got my new facelift ( my second Mig) when I play a cd / radio, ( my car has BOSE and the flap in the cassette door say ???? 6000 & Philips I think ) unit at any thing higher than a 1 / 3 sound  level , I get a loud thumping distortion , as I said poblem is 99 % bass, when I play anythig loud it just distorts . I have played around with buttons on the face lift but still got this problem. Any help as always would be much appreciatted

Blown amp or a blown speaker

disconnect speakers in turn to see which one is causing the problem.

Wrong (non Bose) Stereo fitted....its over driving the amp and not giving out the correct response curve.

Ah! I missed that one, for once I was trying assist with a BOSE question rather than to simply say, its not very good and if I were you I would rip it all out and put something better in place
 ::)

Completely missed the fact that it probably has a non-BOSE head unit fitted

I concur, that is my initial thoughts.

Sounds like it has the BOSE amps and speakers, but does it have the correctly configured BOSE head unit to drive it all?

Let us know the exact model of head unit, and we`ll try to advise further

Hi all I have just been out to check it and it reads as follows :

CCR2006  Philips ( on the cassette flap )
Then has the buttons in a circle ( split in the ways ) with Tape, Tuner, CD .

So what does that mean ? Is it the right head unit . Thanks for all the help .

Right head unit in theory, but it must also be configured for BOSE, which can only be done with a Tech2

Unsure how you can tell if it is configured already or not, as the BOSE message is not always displayed.

Daz did say Mark did the tech 2 stuff including autobox upgrade before I bought it so I am leaning towards a blown speaker, but that is only my very limited opinion.

The head unit was fitted into the car and The Master checked it for me then set it to Bose, so the head unit is now Bose.

Glad you found that it was a speaker wire Dave :y
