The solution is for all of us to start making ice cubes....lots of them. Then we can store them in high up freezers, hence just moving the ice caps to our gin and tonics. Very Trumpesque, I know, but I think it might work.
And that actually makes more sense than the shite Al is talking.  ;D

Their bulk is underwater ::)

... when floating .. but 99% of a glacier is actually parked on top of a lump of land ... so when all THAT ice melts the water runs off ... and the water level must rise ... que ??   :)
True, but if the glaciers all melt, two things will happen... the resultant water will take up proportionally less space and the land will rise as it won't have all that weight parked on top.

The overall effect will be pretty neutral ;)

Since when does land "float" ?? its all connected to the sea floor/tectonic plate and is bloody permanent (until it slides under another tectonic plate....

and at present the ice is taking up "air space" which will become "water"/sea when it melts

Ice that is floating in sea water, when it melts, has absolutely no effect on sea levels. Archimedes theorem page 1 paragraph 1. Therefore it makes absolutely no difference to sea levels if the North pole melts or not although it is bad news for Polar Bears.

Ice in glaciers and at the South Pole (most of which is over land) when it melts does cause a rise in sea level. Don't know if this is good or bad news for Penguins.

Who said anything about land floating  ???

Common sense tells you that if you remove the downward pressure from a surface that it will relax upwards...

Ok, it might not be as impressive as a memory foam mattress,  but it will still happen... even if it's only ten centimetres that would probably be enough to counter the ise of the sea levels...

Not pissed... I actually have an A level in Geography, so mock away :P

It's actually a 'thing' and is called Post glacial/isostatic rebound

In which case you would know the tiny little bit of information you are failing to take into account ...

"Because the response of the Earth to changes in ice height is slow, it cannot record rapid fluctuation or surges of ice sheets, thus the ice sheet profiles deduced this way only gives the "average height" over a thousand years or so."

So the ice melts relatively quickly .. 10's of years .. but the land rises slowly .. thousands of years ... thus water levels rise quickly and take a long time to fall .. :)

I simply suggested that it would even out, no mention of time scales ;)

Besides the ice isn't all melting overnight...

That's correct Entwood, and that is my point about the ice melting and rising water levels which is a fact.

It is also a fact that so much fresh water entering the sea water is having an effect, along with all the other environment effects which people can ignore at all of our peril, to ensure sea temperatures are rising, which again is a fact and helping tremendously to fuel the hurricanes we are now seeing in a greater number, and at a greater strength. ;)
