Plug or replace?

At least the car comes with a spare, albeit an anorexic one.

You should get away with a plug in that as its far enough from edge and lso its in the hollow of the tread.

Decent tyre place should be able to fix that,although depending on age/wear of tyre might be peace of mind on a V6 just to replace and relegate that to a spare.

It's done 8,000 miles and is on the rear.

Plenty of meat still left. The fronts have also done 8,000 miles and need replacement.

That's right, it's all to do with fuel efficiency and nothing at all to do with manufacturers being tight bastards.

It seems I'm fortunate that the puncture was on the rear. Apparently the crappy little spare won't fit over the larger discs on the front.

you do my new astra came with a can of tyre weld and a air pump..they also only fit small fuel tanks as well at a push from empty you can squezze in £50...PITA

I have my doubts that a poxy tin of foam will fix a puncture when strips of the tyre are 400 yards behind you on the M6.

Trip to a decent tyre repairer and get it fixed if its just done 8k.At £85 a corner the £15/£20 for the repair is the better option then

And tyre foam renders the tyre unrepairable so I believe. Tyre fitters nightmare.
Agree about repairing it - it's thousands of miles off the tread wear indicators, and as long as the screw hasn't damaged the sidewall internally, then it is definitely worth repairing by plugging it.

60 litre tank on an astra, so you must have 10 litres in reserve.
