Title: 06 Corsa 1.2 value and disposal
Post by: Varche on 07 January 2019, 14:34:04
Some will know we have a 1.2 petrol Corsa Design here in the UK to use as a runaround on our trips back from Spain. It has had less and less use each year. This last year 800 miles since MOT in May.

Anyway it has to go this month. Could do with some help in arriving at an asking value and where best to advertise please.

It is 2006 06 plate Vx Corsa Design . Sunroof, air con , no alloy wheels. Good overall original condition. Serviced and maintained with receipts. We bought it with 56 k miles Nov 14. Now has 70,339 on the clock. MOT May 2019.

Any suggestions please?

Comparing to what we have seen last month looking around for a car for girlfriends son it’s probably worth anywhere between £800 to £1600. Especially considering it’s quite new and Lowish mileage.
Similar age Peugeot’s and clit’s seem around the same price mark .
Obviously depends on condition.mechanically, interior and body .

Stepdaughter has just bought a 56 plate (2007) Corsa  D 1.2 club 3 door with 50K on the clock for £2200 from a trader with warranty if that helps at all.

Design trim level is pretty high spec if I remember correctly?

I think your struggle with them Autotrader prices if Im honest, esp if your after a quick Sale and this time of year (after Xmas).

The 1.2 are the more popular of the range, as in, more of them, what Colour ?, Black, Grey and Silver are good selling colours for Corsa C's, the Design are pretty basic, SXi and SRi demand more money if looked after and in good nick. Lots of Corsa C's getting scrapped at the moment, due to poor maintenance, typically lack of Coolant and Oil Services, not saying yours is Varche, but as a general guide high number of the Models getting Scrapped or Broken normally means the Ones on the Road suffer in Retail.

Positive points they are low Tax and Insurance and cheap to fix, so always a good choice for New and Young Drivers, which in that Category a 13 year old Corsa C will probably Sell better on its looks, Colour, condition and MOT life over the the normal Millage and Service History.

Good luck with it Varche, I'll put the word around when you come up with a guide price.  ;)

Good to point that out . I thought all cars had those goodies.

Colour is silver.

One problem is it is SORN and not insured. Could drive up and down the close. It started today first time.

no, design is a very good spec ,sxi and sri don't have much more toys ,alloys yes.
the lack of alloys is in some ways a plus ,steel wheels and trims are cheap to replace for a learner who will probably curb the wheels. or swap for boy racer alloys  ;D

you need to make the point that you live abroad.don't use it and that is why your selling (particularly because mot is shortish)
I expect you'll get £500-£600 as a quick sale ,£800 if you re-MOTed it

or EBAY  :-X

Given your position, I'd stick the reg into WeStealAnyCar.com and if it's within a hundred quid of rock bottom (which is probably what you'll get on a SORN'd, untest-driveable car, as it'll likely be someone taking a punt) then I'd get it trailered to them and forget about the hassle of trying to sell privately.

Having just hunted around for a first car for a friend's son I'd say it's worth £1000 easily, possibly up to £1500. Although it does depend on condition a lot and if it's a car with a cambelt whether that needs doing.

These small cars, in good condition and under £2000 are in quite high demand. UK insurance for new drivers is really expensive so they have to get something with a 1.2 engine or less. Lots of people also need cheap run arounds. All the good cars sold really quickly, often before we could view.

In this price bracket Gumtree seems to the place to sell/buy. And I think you can do all the communication through text and maybe email.
