Brake issue
« on: 10 January 2013, 09:14:47 »

Upon driving home from work yesterday, i had all the windows open, as the sun had come out, ive noticed that the front ns brake squeels under braking, thought nothing of it, but when i got home, reversed the car into my usual space and i heard a click/click noise whilst the car is moving backwards, so, i drove forward again = squeel , back in reverse = click/click, when the barkes are applied.

Any thoughts?

The pads were changed about 6k ago and no Brake Pad warning on the MID yet.

My initial thoughts were, a loose caliper, or loose pad. Havent had the time to look yet.

Clicking is usually the pad moving in the caliper, and the usual cause is the rattle spring broken or incorrectly fitted.

If tc pads, they do squeal sometimes.

My thoughts exactly. Is it worth having one of you guys to have a look for me? I personally havent touched the brakes on the Miggy yet. Garage changed my pads last time, pretty certain non GM  ::)

nows the time to start. There's a guide on changing pads iirc...? Quite easy if you have a man enough jack/stands. :)

Ps, only really needs the wheel off, and inspect...

If the spring is present, re seat it. If not fit new if the clicking bothers you.

If the pads are tc there's not much you can do to stop the squeal.
