Omega General Help / Re: O2 sensor
« on: 22 May 2023, 22:08:24 »
 ::)

Hi, on my 3.2 I keep getting a warning light o2 bank 2 sensor 1. Where is it on the exhaust? I clear it and it comes back on when crusing at about 40mph.

"bank 2 sensor 1 " is pre cat sensor on bank 2  :-\
not post cat "catalyst efficiency" problems AKA bank 1 or 2 sensor 2
new O2  sensor ,pre cat ,bank 2  :)
Is "bank 2 " the 2.4.6 side  :-\

I fixed the problems with all my gardening equipment with decking and block paving  ;D
Agreed  :y
slabs ,concrete, blocks etc need mowing much less than grass and weeds  >:D

if you spend 1 hour a week of  the growing season cutting grass ,that's a day a year 24+ hours  :P

Also, a 1 to 2mm hole ,drilled into the rear of the mid sections (the lowest point of the system) will allow the water to that collects to drain .
smear a blob of gum gum over the drain hole for MOT  ;) once MOTed , clear the hole

crazy idea you say  :-\
many exhausts and back boxes come with a tiny hole in to drain water  :-X

I'm planning on replacing the cat-back exhaust on my F/L 2.5 estate - just something to get it through another couple of years, as it's still a great drive. If we're going to keep them on the road, it's a given that most of the jobs we have to do ourselves, at a tenth of the price quoted by the local tyre & exhaust place in the case of the exhaust.

No spring chicken, but I think I can still grovel around under the car for a day. Front end up on ramps with back end jacked and blocked to bring it level - say 18" ground clearance to the bottom of the sill.

Is it possible to get the middle sections over the axle - or will I need to go higher?

Has anyone done an exhaust in the street / driveway and know the minimum height the car needs to be?
Mid boxes /sections go UNDER the "axle" on a V6  ;)
I've replaced my complete zorst system including cats, mids and back box with the Omega on ramps and axle stands  :y
where the mid pipes join the back box is the lowest point of the zorst .

just take your time , WORK SAFE and assemble it all BEFORE tightening everything up  :)

preferably NOT in Novenber ,when it's snowing and you're MOT is about to run out  :D

Oh. And Euro Crap Parts. They have also pissed me off. I ordered some brake discs and pads this afternoon. Went to collect them. Arrived at the store at 16:02. "Sorry, mate, we closed at 4, can't serve you till Monday". Fick off, I've done a 60 mile round trip so I can have these today  >:(

I get it's not the spotty yoof's fault, I suppose the tills automatically shut down / are cashed up at 1600 on the dot. But it's still bloody annoying. Almost as annoying as a 4pm closing time (on a weekend, which is when most people want to fix their cars).....  ;D
I suspect you know Sunday trading laws better than most ;)

IIRC Sunday trading laws are for religious reasons  :-\
I need to read the bible more  :-[
the one I read didn't have "thaw shalt NOT buy car parts or service your car on the sabbath"

A brewery in Norfolk has changed the name of one of it's ales from White Face, after a customer remarked it could be racist. It's named after a hare for gods sake.  ::)
I guess the name "Sh!t faced" had already been taken  :-\   :P
Could have called it Hare of the Dog i suppose.  :D
;D
that's more of an "after drink drink" like Sambuca or Curry house Lager ,Drunk after "Sh!t Faced"  :P

Thanks for the advice  :)

I do intend to have a practice ,I've got some old panels ,sheet etc  :y

I did do TIG, MIG , GAS and stick as part of my engineering diploma years ago  :-X

but not done any FINE bird droppings in a long time ,though I done stick on RSJs etc (got an old heavy transformer snotter for that)

but yes , I'll need plenty of practice and some youtube vids

plus grinding discs and seam sealer  >:D

fortunately nothing on the fleet is too crusty ATM ,

and before you say it .... yes ,I've taken the sill covers off etc and prodded my Omega several times  :D

I've purchased the mig (chinesium tat) in case i need it in the interim period between now and 2035 ,by which time we'll all be flying ECO solar electric hover cars and using the fantastic new public transport systems  ::)

The one section of my commute where I occasionally don't end up following some dull VW driver at 45 MPH, so I can have a play, has got average speed cameras going up. >:(

Good job I'm a reformed character, really. ::)
Same problem  :(
A38 down to 40mph on most of the section i use ,
and the "works" are well beyond the finish schedule  >:(
my MPG has gone up a whole 0.3 MPG  :D
just been raped £220 for RFL (6 months)
I suspect none of it will "save rge planet"  :-X
