Omega General Help / 2.6 v6 error codes
« on: 13 April 2022, 17:34:41 »
Hi folks really need some help with my 2.6.
I had oil leaks on cam covers and replaced the seals etc.
after rebuild it was running lumpy and I could here hissing. Stripped plenum off again and found a crack in the long vacuum pipe that runs under it. Taped it up and reassembled. This time even worse and got the spanner on dash.
Pedal trick lists following errors.
P0120 and p0220 throttle position switch a and b.
P1300 robs error because of empty fuel tank instrument. It is low on fuel!
Also got p1700 service vehicle soon which I guess is due to the other faults.
What have I missed. Everything seems connected and tight.
Really appreciate some help.

Omega General Help / Plenum update loose wire
« on: 05 November 2019, 14:40:45 »

Hi again. Well breathers done. Rockers back on. Starting rebuild and came across this wire. It originates in the thick loom as a black wire and goes into connector as in photo. Comes out brown. It is a clean break and I can’t see any loose ends elsewhere. Any pointers please.

Hi folk. Started to renew rocker gasket and clean breathers today. It’s been an off and on  job with rain. As you can see in photo there are the 4 breather pipes. What is the other pipe in my hand. I don’t remember taking it off anything and I can’t see where it might connect to. It was tucked away and goes down towards the bell housing.
Also I noticed another pipe which is routed under brake servo and out into wheel arch. There is a join just where it exits and this had come apart also. I can reconnect this but wondered on its purpose.
All comments greatfully received.

Omega General Help / More crank sensor woes
« on: 17 October 2019, 14:20:47 »
Hi folks. I’ve read all the history but I’m hoping for some inspiration!  Replaced the sensor with genuine gm Bosch part all way from Germany through dealer. 95 quid all in. Car ran fine for 2 weeks and hey ho same problem this morning. Starting difficult and now it’s cut out altogether.
I have inspected the two ends and they seem fine. I rerouted it up by the brake pipes to keep away from heat.
Any thoughts or tests. The code is 0335 crank position.

Omega General Help / Crank sensor 2.6 v6
« on: 20 September 2019, 07:45:02 »
Hi folks urgent advice needed.
Had poor starting and now the engine has cut out and won’t start. Scanner displayed with all the usual dash lights. Suspect it is crank sensor from other posts. Do we agree. Now I understand there are two types. Is this the case on the face lift 2.6. OR was that only the earlier 2.5

Thanks

Omega General Help / Rear pads
« on: 02 July 2019, 11:54:37 »
Rear brakes started horrible metal on metal noise today. I replaced the whole system 20k ago. I expected to get more out of them than that. There is some scoring on discs as I was on a long trip home. Will I get away with new pads only. Anyway I need the part number for pads. The search brings up two different numbers. Which is correct.  What is difference as they both appear to be same. 9192126n or 9195058. They are vented but I thought they were common. Many thanks

Omega General Help / Rear quarter panel plastic cover
« on: 04 October 2018, 19:08:50 »
Hi folks. Have searched but couldn’t find anything. The plastic cover that hides the join on the d post. I noticed some rust under it and need to examine closer. How does it come off. My 03 has started to develop random rust all over the place. Door edges, sills, sunroof, subframe etc.  Nothing for years and now rust spots. Also paint blisters have appeared on roof bonnet and boot. I have owned it for 9 years and it is parked outside but it is a rural area with little pollution and no salt!  Fortunately silver hamerite is a good match for star silver.
Thought please especially how to remove the cover.

Omega General Help / Can belt urgent help please
« on: 31 August 2018, 17:46:23 »

Hi folks. Started on cam belt today using excellent dvd. However run into a snag. I’m using a sp locking kit. The crank lock isn’t as good as the one in the vid. As a result when it comes into contact with water pump it doesn’t sit well and as a result the cams are slightly advanced.
I have rotated the crank again and locked it against water pump when the cams are aligned using gauge and locks fit in ok. However as you can see from the pics the crank lock is a bit off. The timing marks on the crank itself are in line and the flats are vertical.
Should I proceed. I’m in a remote area and won’t be able to get a replacement tool any time soon.
Hope the pics are visible. Thanks in advance.

Omega General Help / Can belt change
« on: 26 July 2018, 15:04:28 »
Hi folks. After much deliberation I have decided to tackle the timing belt. It has 97k on clock and it was done at 42k-  back in 2009!  I know. I know. I am on borrowed time. Have ordered the dvd.
Decided on contitech kit. Can someone advise which cam locking kit to use- ideally the one in the dvd. Many thanks.

Omega General Help / HBV
« on: 26 May 2018, 12:16:17 »
Hi folks. I have managed to get the hbv out. Couple of questions which I have. Has anyone used the febi bilstein part. It is a lot cheaper than the dealers and I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same. Also the clips are a nightmare. Anyone used jubilees as an alternative.
Thanks in advance.

Omega General Help / 2.6 ps pump part number
« on: 09 February 2018, 22:10:31 »
Few questions re pump
Mine is noisy since I had to drive it home with no fluid in.
1. What is part number for 2.6
2. Will it fail or jam up if I continue to ignore it for time being
2. Can they be repaired or is there any other versions that will fit?
Thanks

Omega General Help / Power steering leak
« on: 28 January 2018, 11:12:29 »
Having now addressed the failed oil cooler(a brilliant guide many thanks) I turn to the ps leak. I topped it up and it was ok for a day then it emptied completely over the subframe. The hose with the jubilee on seems fine clean and dry but down round the pump it's soaking. Any tips on where to start. Could it be a hose or will it be the pump itself. Are there any common failures. What do they cost. Pointers please.  Thanks in advance.

Omega General Help / V6 crank sensor
« on: 27 December 2017, 17:42:46 »
Can someone clarify for me. The crank sensor on the v6. What is the bolt size holding it in the block. In the guide it says t8(male)but it appears to be a female when I looked earlier. As I will need to buy a socket can someone share their wisdom. Thanks.
