I have a 70AH Genuine GM on both of my 2.5 elites. A bargain if you have access to a Trade Card. ;)

Omega General Help / Re: drainage
« on: 28 February 2013, 15:18:24 »
Welcome to the very common problem of blocked drain outlet in the pollen filter/scuttle housing.

There is a massive amount of posts regarding this issue if you use the "search" facility. (Type in "scuttle drain").

There is a rubber bung with a slit/hole in it as you have identified but it blocks up very easily. I use a hose pipe to dislodge the gunge. It is difficult to actually get at it with a screw driver as it is deep down in the void and under the wiring loom.

Keep perservering and once it is clear check the housing on a regular basis to avoid a repeat.

Good luck :y

I would agree. Probably a blocked scuttle drain. >:(

A common problem with the Omega and although the water comes in to the front passenger compartment it quickly water logs the sound insulation and flows to the rear passenger compartment.

Do a search on this forum for more details and "how to" fix the problem.  :y

General Discussion Area / Re: Living in Germany
« on: 04 July 2012, 14:41:37 »
I regularly go on familar holidays to Germany (Berlin, Munich, Trier, Moselle valley, Rhine valley) and they have been some of the best holidays ever. Even took the Miggy back home.

The German people are friendly, they generally like the english and they like beer and football too. ;)

I even spent time living with German families on several teacher exchange programmes. Had a great time and really got to see their culture on a day-to-day basis.

I found that they are very sensitive about World War 2, Hitler, Nazis, concentration camps and the holocaust. They can't understand how the english are so preoccupied about the war. When they came over to England they were amazed about the amount of war films and documentaries on TV.

Also found they were  even more sensitive about the re-unification of East/West Germany particularly the right wing element.

Omega General Help / Re: air con not cold

Same thing has happened with my air con rad on both my miggies. The fins at the bottom have fallen out/distintegrated. >:(

I am just starting to price up a replacement condensor and the price of a gas removal and then re-gas.

Omega General Help / Re: rear control arm adjustment...
« on: 03 May 2012, 18:24:46 »
I think you have to loosen off the bigger hex nuts as they lock up the whole assembly before you start on that centre adjuster.

You might also find that the centre adjuster (and those lock nuts) have totally rusted up. I had to take them off the car and free them off with heat, a big vice and an extension bar!! That was fun :(

That's a good tip. :y

I managed to destroy a heavy duty cast iron vice trying to "free" up the adjusters on mine:  >:(

Yep, same happened to me. I followed the "how to guide" and replaced the microswitches. Cost about £1.99 each from RS Components. (Maplins may do similar ones?)

General Car Chat / Re: Waxoyl ?
« on: 14 March 2012, 20:13:46 »
Yep. I had the same problem with waxoyl on those lower rubber strips.

I found if you clean the waxoyl off with white spirit/panel wipe and allow to dry they resume their normal shape/flexibility after a few days.

I have a trailer loom (with correct square socket for behind the boot trim with wiring) on back order with Vauxhalls.

Six weeks and still waiting. :(

I don't think it will ever arrive so I have also started to collect the loop-in/bridging sockets from scappies.

Also found an indentical socket in the relay box in the engine bay. It has the larger pins but no smaller pins..

Omega General Help / Re: Washer jet identification, which side is it!
« on: 29 February 2012, 11:13:20 »
For reference the Vauxhall part numbers for the Headlamp Jets are:

Right Hand (RH): V0090509518
Left Hand (LH) :  V0090509516

RH/LH as looking from the front of the car.

If you take the jet off and look at the back you will find a RH or LH stamped into the plastic above the manufacture date. There is also a number which looks like a part nmber but it is not the same as the "official" Vauxhall part number?
