Eliud Kipchoge
« on: 12 October 2019, 09:41:46 »

Wow, he did the marathon in under 2hrs.

20yrs ago, I never thought I'd see that in my lifetime, when we were still 15 mins off it.

Yes, my wife rang me while I was out with doggie to tell me. It will be a world best but not a world record, I believe, as he had pacemakers and was not in competition.

Yes, there are some technicalities as to why its not a World Record for competition sport purposes, hence the term World Best. They did say that it probably would be a World Record for the likes of guinness book of records

And I watched it live for the last 30 mins or so, and he looked like he had a lot of running left in him.

Now the barrier is broken, it won't be long before its the norm I suspect.

Many athletics records from the 1980's still stand.

Take for example Flojo 100M and 200M world records, which no woman has got close to since.

P.S.....Flojo should not be confused with Bojo, who only breaks into a run on the way to the pie shop, or when he gets a sniff of pussy.

Of course......especially in the old GDR and USSR.

Plenty of drug takers today as well. I notice Mo Farah's coach has been banned. ::)

Err, no where I don't do faster than brisk walks on two legs. If I need to go faster it involves two wheels and pedals as neither damage my slightly painful right knee further. Doctor told me 20 years a go, that through smooth exercise and keeping the muscle bulk around the knee built up then I could long term manage it and she was right. Just over the years it has got slightly more painful in cold damp winter weather, but perfectly livable with.

I suspect I damaged the cartilage when I had a  Triumph twin that used to occasionally kick back when trying to start it. ::) :o
