If reterminating the ends has improved matters then could it be related to oxidisation on the connections and thus could happen again unless the cause is found and remedied?

Ping speed is about 1/3 of what it was too!
Ping is a pretty useless test, due to the priority it lacks on any decent layer 3 device.

If using the OOKLA speedtester network as well, that's pretty useless as well.  I've been trying to get a speed test, but I fear I'm maxing out their piss poor servers, and I'd hazard a guess most only have 1Gbps connections, with a very small proportion having 10Gbps, and I've not found any with more.  I want to test my new posh servers :(

I always use Speedtest.btwholesale.com as the advanced bits show you line profile too.
Ping is just a basic ping 8.8.8.8 -t and watched for a bit

Download tests I use newsgroup servers as they can always max me out constantly

I was going to say the same thing.. 10+ connections to Giganews via SSL should max out most lines.. of course, you have to find something legal to download..

If only I could install a news client.  My right wrist wouldn't keep up with the amount of porn per second ;D
