Paddy Ashdown has died at the age of 77  through bladder cancer  he will be missed in politics..

He had a distinguished military and political career but, tbh, I don't think he was any kind of force today. The last thing I remember vividly about him was him offering to eat his hat if an exit poll was correct. It was, and he didn't.

I always remember the headline (The Sun maybe) when he was caught dipping his wick, "Paddy Pantsdown", and always referred to him by that name since.

A spent force in politics over the past few years (and majorly 'dangle berries'ed since the soundbite era), but had a major impact during his peak.

I  think  he  had a Senator that was firebombed while parked outside his house overnight :-\
