hi guys iam looking at a set of brake pads for the old girl the listing says carlton and omega the  part no is 90541293 are these sutiable for mine  ;)

Carlton and Omega rears are the same...

Carlton fronts are only good for early 2.0 8v Omega :y

I recently purchased front pads from UO and the inserts for the pad wear indicator were the wrong way around.They could not explain how this happened. Manufacturing fault?

Brake wear indicators are a push fit in the anti rattle spring. You should be able to knock it out again with a pin pumch.

Was the box sealed? Quite likely supplied loose and someone has opened the box and pushed it in from the wrong side.

Who are UO?

If the press-fit bronze(?) bushes for the wear indicator are installed the wrong way round in the pads, then I can only imagine that the pads were originally intended for some other vehicle that maybe has the same calipers but does not have wear indicators fitted.

That's what I did knocked the insert out and turned it around.I am a bit fed up with this supplier. when I bought rear pads they were the wrong size. This time the box had been opened and they said that the wrong pads had been put in the box. All you need when the brakes are stripped down ready for new pads.

Who are UO?

Wear indicators are a separate thing from the pads .... they are not part of the pad.

I didn't say the wear indicator was part of the pad?

The terminal pin of the wear indicator cable snap fits into the bore in the bush that's factory pressed into the pad backplate. Usually bronze (or is it brass) on genuine GM pads. The bush that also acts as the pivot for the spring.

If the bush is pressed in from the wrong side, as robson indicated above, then the wear indicator won't fit. It'll rattle about.

Robson asked if it was a manufacturing fault and I was commenting on that. More likely that the pads in the box were intended for some other vehicle that uses the same Lucas Girling caliper, but maybe has no wear indicator. So the parts actually in the box are incorrect for the indicated application as opposed to incorrectly manufactured.

This seems like a suitable thread to join rather than starting a whole new one for a simple question

Can anyone tell me what's going on here? On the left is Brembo, on the right is Ferodo. Both listed as fitting Omega B(1994 onwards). I was hoping to use the Ferodo pads now and keep the Brembo ones until the Ferodos are worn out

Am I right that they can't both fit the same caliper? Those ears on the Ferodo pad don't seem compatible with the Brembo and vice versa

I am a good 100 miles away from the car and won't be getting to it until Sunday, so I thought I'd ask here in case it let me initiate swapping the pads if they're wrong :)
