Folding mirrors retrofit....
« on: 29 March 2014, 10:33:54 »

Is it possible to fit folding mirrors to an Omega that doesn't have them already...?

I was just wondering this as I was a bit disappointed when I bought my Omega that it didn't have the folding mirrors that some of the Elites come with...

Does anyone have any for sale....? and I believe also it would need the window controller with a button on it too....?

Electrically folding door mirrors were a rare option in Europe, never available in the uk :'(

Someone in Belgium successfully retrofitted them, but...

You need both door looms, the switch, probably a dash loom, and both mirrors.

Being left hand drive, everything except the switch will be opposite what you require for a uk car, including the mirrors as the driver and passenger mirrors are more different than simply left and right...

Basically, the passenger door mirror housing sits at a different angle to the drivers one so that the view is more or less the same from the drivers perspective :y

Stand on a chair in front of your car and look down at it, you'll see what I mean :y

ALOT of work, assuming you can get the parts in the first place

Seem to remember the Video or Picture I saw of them in action, they didn't seem to fold in very much, unlike some cars.  :-\

Only seems to include door looms.

So presumably the car loom, on a European model at least, has the necessary to connect the doors and mirrors up.

Is there any reason why a uk model would have the necessary in the car loom as well. I'd guess not.

Or the price... :o

http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en?sl=auto&tl=en&u=http%3A//www.ebay.de/itm/Opel-Omega-Facelift-Z387-Jadegrun-Aussenspiegel-Abklappbar-Nachrustsatz-Top-/321363159976%3Fpt%3DDE_Autoteile%26hash%3Ditem4ad2bcaba8

and they are not even new !!!   :(

Get out the car and fold them manually at that price  :o, .. Nice idea though if all the stuff could be picked up for say £50  :-\

I presume when locking the car with the fob it folds the mirrors at the same time ?

Omega mirrors don't gain much from folding anyway.

Omegaman, Please read the manual. Page 9 in particular. In short, no, not with ignition.
