mot sailed, but abs failed!
« on: 13 June 2009, 10:00:04 »

just one glitch on mot today was the abs and TC light.  the computer says front o/s open circuit, and as a result, the tc and abs lights dont go out.
the sensor is ok, its the wiring between the ecu and the sensor itself.  what a pain in the arse.
ex-police so possibly had a wire cut by mistake or something? up with the jack, off with the wheel, out with the electric meter!

once thats sorted, i have to finish my oil cooler on another one.  fun times.

had similar on a polo. Pattern sensor and a bodged repair in the loom 1 inch from the ecu plug. But i suppose the bodge was easy to spot. How the hell the wire got damaged in the first place i have no idea.

i found the fault, they had a wire breaking the circuit, and leading into the cab, for disabling the abs manualy in the car.   all i did was link it out but making the wire back to one cable and losing the stupid police wire they had fitted, and cutt off in the cabin (but not reconected!)  would have been a straight pass at the mot if wasnt for that.   but monday morning i will have 13 months mot on her, so cant grumble at that for a £40 test, and ten minutes work behind the wheel!
