You only lose the radio/CD information when you ditch the ccr2006, no great loss really  ;)

THIS is what I used, the patch lead is free with this seller

As you say no great loss  . .  as , all  that radio/CD info will be on the screen of the new head unit  . . won't it?

And  will all other original info  . . time/date , fuel consumption ,temp etc. will still be displayed on the original in dash screen ?

Also check out the Clarion CX609E - much the same, but a bit more sublte and the USB input is to the rear so you can hide it in the glovebox.

Another variation, I had a Sony XAV72BT fitted in mine... built in cd/dvd player, bluetooth, rear ipod/usb input plus a camera and second video input, two audio inputs and A/V output. 7" touch screen to boot 8)

Just finished fitting a Clarion CX501E with steering controls following MR Gav's help and advice.  :y :y MR GAV  :y :y  It is fiddly to get all the wires behind it but a bit of perseverence pays off.

Had to install it twice as I didn't check that the permanent live and ignition live wires (Red and Yellow) are reversed on the new head units (kept losing radio station presets) and although the connector leads are for a vauxhall they were still in the wrong order.

Stereo connects to iPhone 5s and makes handfree calls through the stereo with crystal clear reception.

Only thing to note is that having a big dial in the centre means not a lot of room behind the gear stick if you have an automatic when you push it back into Park.

I chose a black fascia surround as the grey one was more metallic, lighter grey and with the inner black fascia for the stereo i thought it would be too many different colours. You'll also need a DIN aerial connector.

I'll try to take some tonight.

Meant to also say it has a USB cable at the back that you can run down the back of the dash near glove box and then under centre console to come up in centre console storage. I got rid of the rubber cup holder and just leave an old ipod in there so its always on when I need it.

Yeah took out the original cage and poked all the connectors and in line fuse to the left and tucked the steering control box behind the reinforcing bar that the old cage connected to. I followed Mr Gavs pics that he'd previously posted.

Its not a sleek smooth fit like the old stereo but doesnt look out of place and the colour difference is less noticeable in real life

Sorry Big Al I missed this as I`ve been working away and had no internet.
The head unit is Kenwood DPX405BT and yes all the radio and CD information is displayed on the head unit, all the computer functions are still displayed.
The only problem i`ve had is sometimes the phonebook hasn`t connected and calls can`t be made from the head unit, I don`t know if it`s an Android problem or the head unit. I did a quick google and it seems to be a problem others are having with different head units and different phones so the finger looks to be pointing Androids way. Not had time to look into it properly yet, I bought my girlfriend a single din Kenwood and that works perfectly so I`m inclined to think it`s the phone or Android.
