Dashboard switches
« on: 28 October 2014, 19:23:40 »

Hey, I remember seeing some picture of someone took apart a dashboard switch?

I have one now in pieces and just wondering what lamp I should put there? There's no marking in the old one and it's looking just like normal. It will look stupid if one switch is brighter than others....

Also does these lamp watts make big difference if example the headlight switch has 0.5w original lamp and if i put there 1.2w lamp does it burn something or?

But if anyone got knowledge about the switch lamps it would be great!

Ps. I was about to go blue led in the whole car but decided to stick in the original :)

Was just about to say that i have full set of LEDs and resistors to pfl buttons ::) You'd propably not going to burn anything but dimmer might not work as well as used to and those may be too bright for night driving so as usual with these cars; stick to the original :y

Philips T5 normal, it was the only model sold in local store that has same exact size. 0.9€ piece. With color it would have been 1.45€ piece.... :)

You could use some glass paint to the centre console bulbs to get the extra cool look on them. But then again it's just nice to have all of the bulbs work :D

I've heard that the paint won't last long on them it kinda peels off. That's why use leds to get it look nice.

Red bulbs on my MID have lasted for few monts now but when fitted red and blue parking lights and the colour just faded in less than a month. maybe it just depends where those bulbs are used at..

So um went to local electronic shop and they gave me 12v 40mA bulb.

Result after soldering. You can see the TC button being a bit brighter....

Oh and btw I broke my hazard lights button... Where should I start looking?

It does seem a bit brighter. No idea of what are the original bulb specs :/ Motonet here in Finland or any opel dealer will do :y Not too pricey bit.

Oh, I haven't even noticed that you're "local" too :D Ye Motonet didn't have any buttons, I'll probably go to scrapyard to make findings or then just go to "marble desk" as we say :)

Shouldn't cost too much even at marble, best to ask their price first since scrap dealers' prices can be about the same :y
