Heater matrix is also a possibility. I currently have similar symptoms due to a small leak at the matrix.
Which reminds me, I really must get off my arse and replace i soon.
Only use it occasionally, so havent been desperate to do the job.
I would have thought you would have smelt it if it was heater matrix?

If you take to a proper gearbox specialist, they will pump the ATF through, putting in new as it extracts the old.  This gets to a near 100% fresh ratio.

But far cheaper to do it yourself a couple of times, but depends on your CBA levels.

They always go faster with a fresh MOT!  :)
But still not as fast as a hire car.  Even if it is a 1.2 Corsa, with a turbo, apparently.

I remember The Sweeney using the MkI Consul but didn't pay any attention to badging was it the 3000GT model they used?

Yes, I believe so.  :y  The 3000GT Consul was eventually replaced by a Granada 3.0S before the later MK2. I really do need to get out more.  ::)  ;D
It was all the reading you did when in hospital for ages.  Stick to that excuse, saddo ;D

........
HBV is quite new so not suspecting that either.

I wouldn't completely dismiss the HBV, as my original on my 3.2 lasted around 80K miles but it's replacement lasted less than 5K miles. The replacement was purchased from a main dealer and the box had the hologram on it. The second replacement was still OK when I sold it. Worth checking using the max high temp, max low temp method.  :y
There did appear to be a duff batch a few years ago, a few people, myself included, got caught out :(

Carefully check the plastic parts of the main rad for leaks as well.  IME, you won't see a puddle under the car, and probably won't see much in way of steam either.  Its hairline cracks that close when the pressure drops.

I had a spare cap with a shrader valve in, and pumped up to about 8PSI, then used a torch to locate mine.

Omega General Help / Re: Problems with LTFT on LPG
« on: 07 March 2024, 10:07:06 »
Don't rule out injectors getting tired.  Many brands dont last as long as petrol/diesel injectors.

My last Omega, the injectors were worn after about 40k miles, with the symptom being lumpy idle, partucularly when cold, leading to occasional stalling.  In my case, rather than replace injectors, I just had it switching back to petrol under 1200 rpm and not switching back to gas until 1600rpm.  Had I known how long we were going to be keeping it for - the lack of LPG in my area made it unviable, but we kept on being able to get LPG on various journeys - I would have replaced the injectors.

The fact that it sounds like yours is over fuelling when pushed, and under fuelling at light loads, that does sound like mapping isn't right, or that the evap isn't getting the heat at lower loads.

In the UK, our LPG is mostly propane with a small amount of butane IIRC, presumably to stop the propane from freezing when cold.  I'm guessing this mix was always the same, as I never had to remap mine in that latter years based on time of year.

IIRC, over half of the ATF is retained in the torque converter. So you will only drain c.3.5 litres of oil first go.
So....in my understanding....first oil change gives a 50% ratio of old to new, second one gives you 75%, third one gives 87.5% and so on. So 10.5 litres of ATF will, more or less, give you an acceptable ratio.
LOL, snap. Typed at the same time ;D

I dont know that particular gearbox, but I'd guess you'd get a little over half out, so end with a 50:50 mix os old and new.  After a 2nd change, that'll be 75:25, and a 3rd, 87.5:12.5 and so on...

Even 50:50 is a marked improvement on 100% old oil.

You wont get it all out, so you end up mixing significant amounts of old shitty fluid with new, hence having to do a few times as each draining reduces the ratio of the old fluid.

PFL and FL have different sensors. PFL/MFL is just a single sensor, FL is a dual sensor in the same dome, to tell the system if the sun is passenger or drivers side etc.

Mk2 then thats okay, worked on loads back in the last century!
You mean last millennium ;D

Can you attempt to put a price against each, just to comply with the guidelines :y.  I'm sure anyone wanting multiple items will PM you for a bulk buy bargain ;)
