I've used Pirelli, Michelin & Dunlop successfully on my Omegas but suffered with Kumhos I was recommended a couple of years ago (I'd never touch them again) by my local eTyres fitter. What would folks recommend for reasonable wear & performance ?

I have Nexens all round now and (so far) had no issues. That included driving through a local monsoon last Saturday. Still, as they say "each to his own"

They do have some positives though, right? Like stability I'm told.

 Even the hopelessly dangerously unstable Falkens had some good points.

V6? I think on the 2.2 I would have been happy them. The power delivery of the 3.2 is issue I think.

Road Noise is good, very quiet.

Michelins on mine from new, have kept with them with no problems whatsoever cost a few bob but as they say "you get what you pay for".

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 on the rear have done around 8,000 miles with roughly 4.5mm left with even ware on the 3.2 saloon.

I had Kumhos all round and had a sidewall blowout after less than a year. I replaced it and thought no more. I then had a puncture repaired on another and inspection of the sidewalls showed they were not symmetric such that the tyre had to be scrapped. Looking at the other tyres more closely they were the same and after a long delay Kumhos admitted fault claiming a dodgy batch. Never again. As stated elsewhere, you get what you pay for.

Had a full' set of Nexan 1000,s on my estate. I drive 'spiritedly' and never had a problem dry or wet. After 5k, could not see any wear when I sold the car

Could be case of differnt models of tyres having s big effect? KU31s rates far higher than KU39's?

Sure there are other examples too here of that.

I've been using KU39s for the last couple of tyre changes, apart from a brief experiment with Sport Maxxs (not as good as they used to be IMHO).  I think they are probably the best overall bet for a sub-£100 tyre in 17".

Good stability, average noise, wear rate not too bad, good grip in wet and dry...

Got 4 new Uniroyal Rainsport 3's on mine and no problems.  Had the Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's before and they were good, grippy and great in wet (and groooooovy tread pattern too )

I would recommend the Rainsport 3s.

Good to know, I rescued the KU39's from the Estate before it went, as they were almost brand new. They will be going on the 3.2 next

Manufacturers do have issues occasionally. Goodyear Eagle f1's asym 2 are well used here. But a certain admin had quality issues with more than one of their tyres.

They aren't a "good" tyre anyway tbh. Ku31 arrived with her Lexus is300 and she soon started complaining about opposite lock moments, esp in the wet. From experience there's similar levels of grip on an omega with them.
...not that she would be that confident in the omega barge, by comparison.

On most cars I've tried them on, KU31 had reasonable levels of grip, but absolutely no feedback, so push a shade too far, they completely let go.

Everyday driving the KU31s I have are excellent for me

It's worth noting that the main complainers of grip, have their cars chavved up with huge bumpers, massive alloys and twin exit exhausts

Completely different vehicle, but I have a pair of Kumho Ecsta KU31 on the front and Uniroyal Rainsport 3 on the rear of a FWD car.

I've tried swapping front to back, and I'm much happier with the traction from the Khumo's than the Uniroyals.

I know for a fact that the Uniroyals were better on the Omega than the Saab.  Each car has different characterists, I guess.
