I was doing a spot of 'Googling' the other night and suddenly got a page telling me that there was unusual activity on my account and the reCAPTCHA thing popped up and I had to pick out all the shopfronts to prove I wasn't a robot.  :-\

It's never happened to me before and I wasn't signed into Google as far as I know.  :-\

Has this happened to anyone else?  ???

Should I expect a knock on the door late one night?  :o  ::)

GCHQ will have been monitoring an orange and black striped wig wearing fellow from Dorset for some months now.

Do you use a web-based proxy service?

Used to happen at work a lot, due to a lot of activity from one address.

As Gaffers suggests, if you use a proxy that could do it.

It's basically triggered when Google gets hammered from a single location.

It'll be 3.  Don't worry too much about it.

It can happen a fair bit on national wifi providers and mobile, due to high churn of addresses, although 3 seem to be suffering a bit more than some currently...   ...but should still only be once in a blue moon.

When I switch my iPad on, it obviously takes a minute to find my location. Fair enough. But I was surprised the other morning when, about two minutes after I started it, the BBC weather app showed my location as Bamako.  ;D

I'll ask my father-in-law. He's likely to say that the weather is the least of your worries, though. ;D
