Have you seen the ones that fit instead of the number plate lights?

Moved the burger van to a new site, arrived to a strong smell of diesel and a decent puddle under the car.   >:(

Investigation showed it was coming from the diesel return pipe for nr 4 injector and pi**ing down the back of the block. All four injector wells were full. I didn't hold out much hope on Saturday afternoon but surprisingly Halfords came to my rescue!

All stripped down, fixed and put back together in about 90mins at a cost of £5.70. Good result  :y

Racking my brains if I've actually driven the pussy this year, other than shuffling around the drive.
Took it for a spin yesterday, just a 25 mile cruise to give it a short run.

Topped up the oil on the Trolley... It's used about a third of a litre since October and reckons it's due a service in 1,100 miles...

All in all not bad considering it is a couple of weeks shy of 180k miles 8)

Fitted a new (to me) interior blower fan to the V70 as it didn't work when I picked it up.  ::)

As usual the in youtube video they did it in about 10 minutes, but in reality it was as fiddly as hell and took a couple of hours.  ;D

At least I'll have nice warm toasty feet now!  :y

New crank sensor fitted, (real one) and changed the oil n filter,,,, was 87miles over the 10k, I was worried as it was over the 10k, but I lived to tell the tale,..

Seems high mileage between changes, given the price of TC oil. :-\

It's still expensive when you change it unnecessarily. The 3-4k oil change suggested here is utterly pointless on a petrol engine, especially when using high quality(or even low quality) semi-synthetic oil. An annual 10k(ish) change makes perfect sense to me.

Have used 10k, every year, on every omega, never had problems, only use 5w30, and it's normally bulk bought, so as nickw says not a problem.

Thing is, I know that (as of about 7 or 8 years ago) no oil for car engines lasts more than 7k, and that degradation starts immediately.

So to me it makes absolute sense to change it around 5k as a decent compromise between (the negligible, on an Omega) cost and taking the oil to the point where its lubrication properties are diminished.

On a petrol, I generally take this at the point it changes from clear to treacle brown.

Obviously with tractors, 6k is ambitious for anything, not due to the oil degradation, but the abrasive particles trapped in the oil.

But it's everyones individual choice.
