I have just been told that you now have to buy the covers to get the gasket! £445. Are there any good gaskets out there other than vauxhalls?
Cheers.
Dave.
I hope you told them you can get a whole omega for less than that.
even though the car passed its mot yesterday (ok now until jan 2023) i said it was only worth 50. I would still rather have it than a 29k electric mini. Better value

Omega General Help / Re: reverse gear lifter

New lever time...  ;)

In which case, you need to get under the car to do the following...

1. Release the tab clips holding the boot to the level support bracket, just behind the box and above the prop shaft.

2. Pop of one of the now visible square spring clips and slide the pin and second clip out. This disconnects the lever.

3. Inside the car, pop out the frame around the gater. Just pop your fingers between the lever and the rear edge and pull up. Gaiter lifts up and off the gear lever.

4. Remove the two Phillips screws now visible. Push the console trim forwards and carefully lift the front edge of the lever hole up until it is pressed against the dash and slde it backwards. Once the front is free, you should be able to jiggle it out from under the handbrake. (removing the handbrake trim is optional but means removing the armrest as well and is more work and doesn't alter the fact that the handbrake is the primary obstacle).

5. The gear lever is held to the car by four torx bolts and a pair of curved plates and the retaining cup bearing. I can't recall whether they are removed from above or below, I think it bolts up from underneath... as it is really easy to drop the plates down under the carpet.

That's about all there is to it.
Thanks, all I need now is the part,
Dave.

Manual or auto?

You'll need a replacement lever either way, but they're fitted differently  ;)

Its a Manual

Hello,
My reverse gear lifter is now disintegrating, many bits and split in two. Are there any out there or others that will fit?
Any help appreciated.
Dave

Left door speaker knackerd, the foam has dropped to bits and gone sticky. Given its a 97 with what seems to be 6" speakers (sc 804 radio and cd ) what would be a decent replacement. I expect the drivers side will be the same.

Omega General Help / Re: windscreen washer pump.

Pump out, filter out and covered in blue slime. Lots of hot water in to the tank has flushed out a fair bit of the blue stuff. Refitted and working a treat. Now spotted a split in the pipe in the corner (wing to bonnet area). A connector or new bit of pipe to fully sort. But ok for now.
Cheers everyone.
