Midlands Rolling Road day Update
« on: 19 August 2008, 16:05:41 »

Confirmed date  12th October 10am start.

Cost £30 per car as many runs as you want.

At http://www.jncracing.co.uk/

Could you please confirm if you will be attending. I have from previous post

Markey Mark
DieselDean
V6 Drift
ChrisGixer
VXL V6 (also ABS)
Ian D  Possible
JVE V6 possible
Kevin Wood Both LPG and petrol runs a pleasure :) possible

clubs involved are ABS - OOF - VODC

On the same day the Midlands ABS/OOF meet is being held 2 miles down the road so you can call in have a chat and a pint and meet other VX owners of different marks.

Final details will be sorted when numbers are confirmed.

No possibles/maybe please, there may be places left to sort at later date but its no good just turning up on the day as you would be disappointed.

take care brian

He He. A human RR session! I reckon I would make about 0.25 BHP, and not for very long. I don't rev very high either. ;D

Yes its not restricted - But you will need to confirm a name of who would be ccomingASAP please.

The only other problem i can see is unless there there is contact via myself you would have to relay any details to them. Alternately pm me with there email and i will sort if they want to come.

Sorry I won't be able to attend 'cos my meeeega is sick at the moment, but I will look out for similar posts in the future. This one looks like its gonna be real fun!

Anyway, the reason I am writing is: what is ABS or what does ABS mean? is it a forum like our OOF?. I am familiar with OOF and VODC but not ABS [unless it refers to automatic braking system].

Cheers

Rule 22a  - subsection 14 - paragraph 14 and i quote

" All Administration persons having lots of stars under there name and attending as a visitor are solely responsible to supply coffee and doughnuts for all"

Seems ok to me :)

Not received Cheque from you. All the others are going in tomorrow. I would cancel that check and write another one for £15. To save time i will put £15 in the kitty for you so the space is reserved. I will then sort it out when the cheque comes through.

Hope thats ok

Here's the bar for you midlands folk with 3.0 Miggies! Done a month ago at an ABS rolling road meet near Stansted, wasn't sure about the torque on the new tensioners so I whipped the front off and borrowed a torque wrench in the yard before going on the rollers, good to know I can't have got the timing too badly wrong!

We had four runs and mine produced steadily more on each one, starting with 216 and ending up with 229.9. It's auto, hence the squiggles! The numbers in red at the top are BHP at the wheels (above) and BHP at the flywheel (below).

The second image shows air/fuel mixture on the right hand axis.

That is the wierdest plot I have ever seen......you sure its not a scribble by a small child!

On the drinks and cakes front, I will see what I can do.

I also have a few 3.0 litre deadbugs for ECU's so a before and after would be very interesting if we have any volunteers?

From what I could work out, they couldn't stop the autos changing gear but putting them in Sport mode meant that they would get to the red line before changing up. The Jetex sounded nice on the rev limiter, never listened to it from outside before!

Ahh, it's an auto going up through the gears. That explains a lot.

Sorry but its all full up for this run . I did ask thoes wishing to go quite a while back (if you go back through the posts).

With just over a week to go its a bit late for cheques etc to clear in time.

Its nothing to do with ABS/OOF as such but i was asked to organise the run if i could to which there are members from three clubs attending.

I will have a word with Paul this weekend and see if anything can be done but don't take it as you will be coming until i have had a word.

Sorry if it disappoints but there should be another run early next year all being well.

What about spectators, still room for them?  Not sure I can make it, but if I can, would like to be able to pop along :)

As previously stated the list is complete its NOT a free for all and any one can come along meet.
If any others want to spectate apart from who are on the list then there will NOT be room to park on the Industrial Estate as other business are also open.
There may be a couple of spots at the entrance as its set back a bit or on the next street and walk around.
If you wish to spectate only and are not on the list i need to be aware so please pm me so i can put you on a separate list.
Its NOT a OOF meet as Three clubs are involved. The other Traders on the site would not like loads of people walking around with no one aware of who they are.

A final update with directions etc will be posted tomorrow eve.

The ABS/OOF joint Monthly meet will be held just down the road at the Plank and Leggit on the same day. 12 noon start to which all are invited. A separate post will go up on this meet as well.

Sorry if this offends any one its not meant to so please don't take offence as none is intended.

take care brian

I'm an OOF member and ABS member as are a few members of ABS on the list  ;)

The problem is purely one of space at the Rolling Road location, however at the normal ABS/OOF meet at the Plank and Leggit Pub later there is plenty of space.

Good day out, a pic of the Beastie ready to go. Thanks to MDTM for the chip, tech2 & top end advice, only did one run due to the smoke...ouch. 205 @ the flywheel, 158 @ the drivewheels. No smoke now (phew) running rich? Saw some lovely Sennies/Carltons & a peachy Mk1 Astra from other forum members but was'nt sure if they'd like thier babies posted so only took one piccie. As always good to see old faces again & members from the other 2 forums were equally as friendly.
Finally thanks to JNR Racing for hosting the day & the free hot drinks. Cracking meet. :y
