Did Clarkson even know of its alternative meaning? It seems not many people do.
But remember what we used to say as kids - "sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me"?
Once again, gold-digging on the part of the not really offended......

I'm not a pop fan, but I am a fan of hers; there's something special about her. In her heyday, she wrote, arranged, produced and performed everything - not bad for a 19 year old!
At least she had artistic control and nobody else to blame if it went wrong.

Mr.Wood, I salute you! That is the most comprehensive and clear description I have ever read - and I almost understood it.
On an allied question, is there a danger of overheating if you hold the car on an incline in gear for more than a few seconds? I have to plead guilty to doing that on occasions due to laziness.

thanks Robson i'll try in Ipswich tomorrow, where did you get yours from?

A few weeks ago, when James did mine, he got one from "Drive vauxhall" at Burt St. Edmunds - anywhere near you?
I don't have their phone number to hand, sorry.

Please can you educate me - where is the vacuum generated for the HBV, and why?

cd 2.2, I just re-read your comments and in particular the bit about clearing old sealant additives.
A few months back I added K-Seal (I know, not a good plan and I'll get my arse kicked for admitting it) in an attempt to stop the HBV leaking. It failed to do so, but some of the K-Seal is still in the system; is this a problem, because it didn't actually seal anything and obviously the new HBV doesn't leak, so nothing to break down?

I'm NOT an expert, but surely if there is heat to the rear seats, that suggests not an air lock but a problem with the flaps?

Thank you for that link, it was great fun - and the music fitted so perfectly, too.
Easier than a V6?

Why did you make me think about this? 50 years in October!
I would have needed to have done at least two murders to have been given a sentence like that!
I am open to offers if anyone wants to swap MIG spares for her?
I need an A35 autobox........

Does it re-appear if you then slow down to under 15mph, or does it disappear altogether once you are on your way?

James did mine, and spoke of a "bastard bolt"!
Reminded me of the short and sometimes convoluted transfer hose on the BMC 'A' Series engine - anyone else remember it? - it went between the block and the head and was another inspiration for colourful language!

Oh dear. Thanks, TB; I forgot the old principle - "if it seems to be too good to be true...."

Thanks Kevin.
I don't need the box anyway as I bought a Humax YouView box for Xmas, hence the need for unlimited broadband because 'Er Indoors keeps wanting it connected online so she can catch up on programmes she has missed! Also, BT are still charging me lots more than they do new customers and I've been with them for decades......
