Omega General Help / Last Chance!
« on: 10 August 2009, 10:57:10 »
Well I've had enough now. My car is going into yet another garage tomorrow, to try and fix this sodding stalling problem, If it isn't fixed myself and this PIA car/money pit are parting company. If anyone is in the market for a 99 Elite, with a stalling problem >:( , let me know or I may just break it. I will post when I return from the garage, just in case it is miraculously fixed, and I can let you know the reasons for this ongoing / epic problem  >:(    :y

Omega General Help / Battery?
« on: 10 August 2009, 11:12:53 »
I friend of mine has suggested that a battery without enough 'oomph' could cause my stalling problem. I'm a little sceptical, but could he be right? My battery is a 55AH which I must admit seems a little weedy for a car like this. Should it not be a 70AH?   :-?   :y

« on: 23 July 2009, 16:54:38 »
Just back from Vaux main agent. I asked them to test my new crank sensor. Tested and OK, they cleared the code 19 and said everything is fine now - no stalling. Well that lasted about 500yds before it stalled again !! At the end of my teather now what else could this be I've given up on garages  (5 visits and still the same problem)...... >:(

Omega General Help / Still Stalling......
« on: 08 July 2009, 14:14:19 »
Hello all, Just back from a local Vaux specialist. My car has been stalling when stopping at light or around slow corners. Cam sensor replaced genuine Vaux. Kevin Wood plugged his tech2 in a couple of days ago, got code 19 again, and cleaned the ICV, changed the vac pipes around on the reservoir and adjusted the thottles. Still no better. Vauk specialist says torque converter  :o or, as the car had a rear ender last year, fuel sender? Any ideas folks as this is realy getting to be a real pain!! Next step I guess take it to Vaux ??
Ta, Dave.  >:(

Omega General Help / At the end of one's teather!
« on: 25 June 2009, 10:27:45 »
Hello all, so the epic continues. I still have a loud ticking noise, not during tick over but as soon as I select drive and accelerate, nothing when coasting. My local garage changed my cat and the noise appeared after that, so I took it back assuming they would find a leak at the manifold or joint. They assured me I was wrong and that it is the lifters hmmn. Got another mechanic to have a look. he says the manifold is leaking. Anyhoo I returned to the original garage and they won't budge they still say "no leak from the front pipes or manifold" What do you think. If it was lifters would it not show itself at tick over as well as under load. :-/ :-?

Omega General Help / Lifters?
« on: 12 June 2009, 09:39:55 »
Sorry to keep 'banging' on about this but this tapping noise just isn't getting any better. It's not too bad in Park but as soon as I select drive it's really quite loud. The tiicking from exhaust manifolds usually clears when the engine / exhaust warms doesn't it? so I can only think that it is the lifters. How long should this take to settle, if it's going to, and If I leave it will it do any harm? Also I assume this is a big strip down job to replace them?
Thanks  :-/ :y

Omega General Help / Noisy lifters?
« on: 11 June 2009, 10:13:15 »
I have a tapping noise on the drivers side of the engine it gets louder when I put it in drive. Is this the lifters do you think? I did an oil & filter change yesterday and added some lifter treatment - it's still as noisy though. If I have to get them changed is it a long, complicated, expensive job and will it do any damage if I don't change them? Thanks folks.  :y

Omega General Help / Starting to hack me off now!
« on: 10 June 2009, 09:53:48 »
Hello all, Just got my car back from the garage. New cat fitted the other was blocked. I now have quite a loud tapping noise that I assume is the lifters. The garage advised an oil filter change & flush plus an additive called lifter treatment. I will try this at the weekend. I am now having start from cold issues as well as the odd cut out at slow speed again!! I will re-fit my new vaux crank sensor again, I took it off last time because the car ran worse than with the old one! I am still getting code 135 & 19 any other thoughts would be much appreciated.....  :-/ :y

Omega General Help / Crank Sensor?
« on: 01 June 2009, 16:06:04 »
Hello, Just changed my crank sensor after getting code 19, left the old one hanging in place. It now runs a lot worse than before - it cuts out after a few moments and then re-starts straight away but runs very rough. Any ideas please?  :-?

Omega General Help / Noisy
« on: 22 May 2009, 14:13:45 »
My car is sounding a little throaty. i assumed that the manifold gasket was blowing but my local mechanic says it is fine. Apparently the EGR pipe was loose? He says he has secured it but after a couple of days the noise is back?  Any comments would be appreciated.   :y
