Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Bluetooth Hands Free Kits
« on: 15 July 2006, 02:22:41 »
Before I start, I have no connection with the manufacturer which I will mention in this.

I have been thinking about a handsfree car kit for ages with the Omega. I assisted someone else who is not on these forums install a Parrot CK3100 kit to his 51plate MV6 estate. I was so impressed (no not a remington reminder) that I bought and fitted one myself.

Dead easy to use, a bit fiddly to install, but for under £90 on the door, who cares.

Wires into the back of the stereo - although only has 2 sockets, so minor butchery to the standard plug is required to separate the power and speaker lines from the display plug at the top. Gubbins etc fitted below the passenger airbag but above the glovebox.

Took a couple of hours to fit but now incoming calls sound via the stereo (muting the stereo in the process), microphone to fit where you want (fitted in mine under the dashboard hood between the centre vents and the MID/TID display).

Works a treat. Can post pics fitted if anyone wants, can show install bits if I have to but this will mean some dismantling to show wiring routing etc...

Omega General Help / Washer Bottle - Estate
« on: 16 November 2006, 14:02:52 »
Has any one had any experience with leaks on these things?

I am getting to the point where I need to do something with my P reg estate. If I fill the bottle up it immediately starts draining, leaking from the front onto the floor. It leaks for so long then stops leaking. Obviously with the impending months, I will need to use it a lot so would like to fill it properly then check levels every week or so.

Are these bottles prone to splitting or are there rubber o rings which dry up (car was stood for approx 12 months before I bought it) or is there anything else with them which can frequently go wrong.

I also take it that it is a bumper off job to get to the bottle. I should mention, has headlight washers so more piping and bigger tank is fitted - have also noticed that the drivers headlight washer often takes a couple of squirts to charge up - suggestive of a leaky pipe?

Any advice from anyone with experience getting these things out or with problems from leaks would be greatly welcome!

General Discussion Area / Caravanning - Omega's as towcar!
« on: 19 July 2006, 00:39:51 »
Following on from the Caravan Tyre warning earlier, I am thinking of getting a caravan at some stage - not a new one by any means, but fancy something to tame the 3.0 on the road..

Any recommendations for an ideal sort of size of van/weight etc for the Omega? Ideally I would prefer a larger van 3/4/5 berth just for space and comfort, but would appreciate any pointers or advice from our existing caravanning members to look out for should I finally decide to take the plunge.

Mine is a 3.0 elite estate on a P - so not new but has typical features of the specification, obvious thing I would only drive it with an anti-snake device as have seen too many vans on their side for various reasons.

Any other mods necessary for the meega or other things I should be aware of with the meega towing?

Cheers for any advice

Steve
