Title: Exhaust for 2.2 estate
Post by: Enceladus on 05 August 2019, 16:10:28
For a 2.2 16V auto estate. One of the centre boxes is blowing so I guess it's time for a new exhaust.
Are the ones from Eternal Car still any use? There seems to be a lot of complaints on the forum along the lines of 'damaged in transit'.

Eternal's is £105 delivered (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-OMEGA-B-2-2i-Caravan-1999-2003-Full-exhaust-from-CAT-mounting-kit/173566056020?hash=item286957d654:g:KuUAAOSwrwhbsiuO). Actual manufacturer is Polmostrow, Polish I imagine.

Or there's a Gerlach from Poland @ £115 (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Exhaust-system-for-Vauxhall-Omega-B-2-2-16V-Caravan-estate-1999-2003-171/221578456191?fits=Car+Make%3AVauxhall%7CModel%3AOmega&hash=item33971aec7f:g:9FcAAOSwO~hXIen6).

Or I've had some success with these from carexhaust_eu in the past @ £112 (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Opel-Vauxhall-Omega-B-2-2-16V-Estate-Silencer-Exhaust-System-367/261111236297?hash=item3ccb7146c9:g:IssAAOSwSQFaIA4X) delivered, might get a £5 off. Actual manufacturer is not specified, but the V6 versions supplied had plenty of metal in them.

Appears to be luck of transport, I fitted Eternal before and great exhausts.   :y

Put a Gerlach one on my now scrapped Desmond. Was impressed with the quality and thickness of the steel. Made by Krupp i believe.

The Eternal Car centre silencers are supplied with the downstream pipes to the rear silencer cut clean through, presumably to make them shorter for transport. Clamping sleeves are supplied to join them back together. That was unexpected.

Is this a new thing or were they always supplied like that?

I'm a bit concerned that it makes it a PITA to orientate the re-joined sections correctly such that the pipes don't bang off the floor of the car etc. Or is it easy?

Makes assembly easier, although it is primarily to keep within courier sizes thereby keeping shipping costs low :y

Hang the bits with the hangers and manipulate the rest. Tighten it all up once you're happy :y
