For the Vauxhalls, I'll stick the TC, as its about the cheapest, plus backed by a usable warranty (you call dealer, they fit another for you whilst you drink coffee), unlike many mail order shitholes, where you have to send it back and wait for ages for a replacement, catching the bus in the meantime.

Tayna are on my list for when the XJ needs a new battery, due to some personal recommendations.  Not the cheapest for branded, though.

I bought a 115 amp leisure battery from Tayna 8 years ago, still going strong.

If you can be bothered, drop your old battery into the local scrap dealers, usually 10-20 quid depending on size

Looks like Hellfrauds it may be, for a Yuasa. Cheaper than Tayna as well, surprisingly :o

I went onto the Varta website, got the spec from there, then went onto the Tayna website.

A well maintained, regularly used V6 Omega isn't hard on batteries.  I think my old beloved Silver Bullet had its 3rd battery a few months before it was scrapped, when it was over 19yrs old. That battery is now on TBE, after the battery I bought the car with in 2010 suddenly failed either earlier this year or late last year.

Its letting them go partially flat, like leaving them for a couple of weeks, that knackered them. Else anything should be good for several years.


Not sure if any of the taxi stuff added extra drain, or those silly headunits you used to like...

Yup, that shutting off dropped it from four+. Had it been a daily driver, then the consumer relay would have been next.

By virtue of the 'accessories' it didn't get used quite so much, so usually I pulled the two primary fuses from above the battery.

The accessories were run directly from the battery, so were easy to rule out.
