Interesting what you catch on video.

Neighbours wife (retired) goes out at 2 a.m. every morning and returns at 2.20 a.m. ???
Does she wear a striped jumper and a mask?

Only if you talk to them so.. don't talk to someone who looks like a crook? Seems simple to me ;)

You can talk to them from anywhere, you just say you can't come to the door at the moment ;)

I think aaronjb's advice is better, as villains are wise to "cant get to door right now" means "I'm out, so treat yourself to my possesions".

Sorry, I can't open the door as my Rottweilers are in a bad mood today!  :D

An angry dog backing track might be useful for this one though.  ;)  ;D

So, they ring your conventional doorbell, no-one answers and they assume you are in, so they don't break in and steal your possessions? :o

Apart from setting the house alarm off, I've got them on video ;)

Well, that too! It's no different to a regular doorbell, really, in terms of "risk" (IMHO) :y

Personally if I'm expecting a package and I've had to go out, I'll talk to them and ask them to leave it somewhere/neighbour/etc depending on who I know is around (to be fair, most of the delivery guys who come here come often enough  :-[ that they know where to leave stuff and which neighbour to go call on.. even the Amazon Logistics guys are great) - but if I'm not expecting a package then I'll have a squiz at who is at the door, but I'm unlikely to talk to them.

Usually charity muggers, anyway, around here.

If they do get in then the dog will eat them and the cats will clear up whatever is left, so problem solved  ;D ;D ;D

In some of the channel mags, there are incidental reports of houses with smart doorbells being actively targeted, as they tend to be purchased by 2 types of people - geeky types with lots of valuable, resellable gadgets, and those that are not in often.

Its actually these security concerns that are the reason I don't have one.
