Reason for flexi on a FWD car is that when revs applied/released the engine[being across the car] rocks front to back, where on RWD cars the engine is font to back and therefore rocks side to side, and yes I know some FWD cars have the engines mounted front to back like a RWD car.

Omega General Help / Re: Key fob opens all doors but not the boot.
« on: 17 February 2017, 18:56:47 »
C pillar is the bit that the rear door latches onto.If you've got the interior panel off the bootlid then just follow wiring from boot latch/the rear lights mounted on boot back to the bootlid hinge. The constant opening/closing of the bootlid can cause the wiring to fray or break. The Omega is not the only car to suffer this.

Omega General Help / Re: Rear Springs (with self-levelling)
« on: 15 February 2017, 20:58:23 »
My Elite failed the mot a few years ago on a broken rear spring.I had both replaced with KYB springs. How things would fare with a S/L spring on one side and a standard spring on the other I don't know.Springs are one of the items I would always replace as a pair.It is surprising how many owners[not particularly Omega owners, but in general]just have one spring replaced-presumably for economy reasons.

Must be the grey sealant for the oil cooler cover plate though, would the sump sealant be the same black sealant as used on cam cover gaskets?

Power steering fluid checked for both level and colour and both ok,must have been throwing a hissy fit as it's only done it the one trip!Got some new front pads to fit this weekend so I'll take off the auxiliary belt and check pulleys etc for any roughness and see how we go.

From what I've gathered so far[since owning my Mk1]The electrics and interiors of MkII onwards cars are more complicated and fragile than the Mk1's.They're not the greatest lookers but then they're not ugly either.Mine is very comfy[I'd say on a par with my Omega Elite]Capable of mega miles if looked after[which really applies to most if not all cars]Parts prices not too horrendous. If the diesel is the same unit as fitted to the Focus then it's a Citroen/Peugeot unit.

General Car Chat / Re: Revs surging

Will give the throttle body another clean this weekend[I did it when I first got the car as the revs were dropping to stalling point]As a quick update the car ran as normal this morning on way to work and ran as normal on way home this evening. The only thing different from yesterday morning/this morning/this evening-when all was fine-and yesterday evening-when the rev surge occurred-was that yesterday evening I had the lights turned on,and on the other occasions I was running on the DRL's,which on my car only means that with the lights turned on I get the dash back lighting where on DRL's I don't.The front DRL's are the headlamps and the rear lights are also on when running DRL's.
