Omega General Help / Re: power steering fluid
« on: 12 July 2018, 22:33:07 »
if you have bubbles it can be a line is sucking in air. when the air builds up only place to go is back out. does the steering make any strange sounds while its in use or when the front is off the ground. best to do the bleed with front of the ground as no pressure on steering from engine and body shell. so the rack is lose and can move more freely.

The only thing that can think of if it's coming back out the filler is it's got air in the system or the vent hole is blocked. It could also be the wrong fluid in system. Sports types are thiner for higher. Could even have a blockage in the rack or pump. A bit of muck could of gotten In the line when fitting newer pump.

I took the roof lining out at that end and the side panels in boot sides and removed the boot covers. And used a meter to test the wires. By hooking them up at each end. Took out old wires when found the damaged ones just cut them off and used a bendy strong wire to put new ones in pass side has heater window and a few wires radio etc drivers side has locking and back feed and break light on mine. 3 wire were spilt on mine think it was one return earth and the heater and locking power feed. Would recommend to stick the wires back to the lining when finished as makes some funny sounds on the roof if not.

it can become hot if there is a lot of turning while driving but it usually goes back to being a just above warm. if yours has a cooling rad on the front lines, you can check it as sometimes the veins inside  get blocked and this will limit the flow and make it hotter than normal. some of the old power steering fluid had water in the mix and this can cause a build up of rust in the lines and block the flow. had it on a renault 3.0 auto. had to change the cooler.

I had that on mine it was the boot wire in between the the boot and the shell. might be same on yours but not rule out the door rubbers. the wires were splitting and every now and then would ark and blow the fuse. then be fine again until the lock stopped completely.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Speedo wobble at 20mph
« on: 06 July 2018, 20:25:20 »
Speedo wobble at 20mph, only doing it when slowing down and been driving for a while. Goes up ok and other speeds still correct. Just when dropping speed. No abs light. Is sensor on the left wheel or right wheel for speedo. Or could it be the dash it is hot while driving was 52c in car with all windows open. Green house on wheels surpose don't help with slow traffic. ?

Well was wondering why only high end on radiator fan was working coming on close to 100. And found out why. The switch is coming apart. So ordering a new one has white one on but part is black or white is there a differences? This one has melted
found out what difference is. It's the wiring both same plug but differtly wired up different is fan speed switch slow to fast. Black is fast to slow so would need to swap wire over.

I bought one from bullseye motor parts but there was black and white both have different numbers but both fit just said what one do you want black or white. So stuck with same colour that was on. Think it's got really hot and melted the glue that seals the thermostat. Luck it's been working still on the top fan. Been wondering while the gauge has been going so high and then dropping so fast. Just flushed the system out 2 weeks back. It's a bit to hot to be driving round with the switch playing up. See how this one goes go 1 year warranty with this one.  :y

yes read guide. wiggling the wire improves the resistance gets closer to 0 or 0.8.(no battery on) but the wire is 20 odd years old. alternator 6 months old, tests fine. battery holds charge at 12.7, load test with starter motor 11v. put a temp wire on for time being till new wires comes tomorrow. no flicker on the battery light on dash and steady voltage drop not fast one that its been doing on load.  heater fan on full and all lights holding at 13.8 13.7. before was moving all over the place from 12.8 to 13.5. dash disco when indicating. not doing that now with temp wire. i will fix new wire/s in when they come.

44
could not find a weak connector so cut the shield on a bit of the wire, and looks like will have to replace this did a few cut to be sure but the wire is oxidised and gone black and brittle. so will have to do the starter wire a well as it there before something starts going wrong with that. :(

I will check that out.  :y
