General Car Chat / Re: Car insurance time again...
« on: 02 September 2017, 21:29:26 »
I just started shopping for quotes for my 2.5 V6 and its about £80 less than last year with 7 years protected NCB, overnighted on the drive and in an office car park most days, 8,000 miles / year and commute I got to work.
Every time I go on the comparison sites it's getting less

General Car Chat / New auto glym trim cleaner
« on: 30 August 2017, 14:58:32 »
Last week I bought some auto glym trim cleaner, rather than green and lumpy it's clear , gloopy and smells of almonds.
It's left the trim with a really high gloss finish but can be dulled with a towel so I thought I'd go over the tyres where again it's left a high gloss finish that seems hard wearing as it's still looks fresh a week later, even though it's been raining.

My CD has cost a fortune this year, thermostat, cam cover gaskets (it's a V6) cam belt service, door lock and crank sensor so far. I understand it will soon need an exhaust as the boxes are crumbling and a down pipe has suffered road strike but I wouldn't be without her purely for the noise she makes around mid throttle and comfort she provides.
I understand 3000 are being scrapped every year meaning tidy ones are tipped to be going up in price!

According to Wikipedia there are 16,000 omegas in the uk including Those currently SORN Senators and Carltons have a following and good examples are beginning to command money, so could it be history predicting the future of Omega?
There's one on eBay with 33,000 miles in 2.6 CDX form for about £2.500.

Was that due to leaks or preventative servicing ?

Looks lovely, I have a similar plan since the ghibli s came out although I'd keep both in the garage and have a run about for day to day use

General Car Chat / Re: My mystery water loss - again!
« on: 07 August 2017, 08:33:58 »
Funny you should bring this topic up, my V6 has had a major overhaul this year, a standard cam belt service (water pump) cam cover gasket replacement,  new coil pack, niew leads, crank and cam sensors.
I was a little concerned when the low coolant warning came on last week.
She's been pressure tested and it was thought an air lock moving after the water pump was replaced was to blame.
Unfortunately the coolant level is still dropping but no signs of where from so I'm checking it regularly and I think it'll be in for investigation if it carries on.

General Car Chat / Re: Vauxhall scrappag insentive

Vauxhall do have there fans and enthusiasts cars, GSi, SRi VX220, MV6 and now VXR!
Interesting the same dealer where this omega came to die pointed out you don't see many omegas about adding "best car Vauxhall ever built"
scrapag schemes are a sign of the times and I hope jay Leno was right when he said we would commute to work in electic vehicles and use petrol at weekends for pleasure.

General Car Chat / Vauxhall scrappag insentive
« on: 06 August 2017, 11:20:31 »
for a little while now I've been looking at getting an Astra for daily duties and retiring my omega to weekend summer use.
I know VX are offering a £2000 scrapag incentive but I was sad to see a mint looking 3.2 Elite with the words scrapag deal in the windscreen at my local dealers last week.

And it's covered 17,000 miles?
