Foot down off a roundabout, and the nearside engine mount failed, cracking one of the cat pipes in the process...

At least I have a spare (ish) car here, and it's not currently snowing :-\

Looks like it :-\ small cone of rubber still bolted to the engine bracket, but no sign of rest of it :o

Guessing lower bolt had come adrift, I've never touched it..., and this allowed the engine to rock enough for the rest to break off :-\

Arse ::)

I'm guessing you'll just have to swap the mount from one car to the other so you can work? :-\

The theory is/was sound ::)

Had to cut my 16mm deep offset ring spanner in half to get it onto the nearside top bolt, only for the mount that I was intending to use to fall out in two halves >:( only saving grace being that it has failed in the same place :-\

Temporary stopgap has been to fit the body of the spare mount to the subframe, with nut securely tightened. This has solved the main issue for now, as it is unable to fall off should the engine rock and still supports the engine. But will need to get a couple of new ones ordered...

Left the exhaust firmly attached to the '03 car, as I figured it best to quit while I was level ::) blowing exhaust has been given a running repair. Having been off recently for the clutch, it should fall off easily enough once a replacement is sorted :y

Finished big blues thermostat. Full breather clean. Dried out the 246 pack and plugs again. Replaced the scuttle and popped in insignia washer jets while I was at it.
