Title: Anyone else get this text?
Post by: BazaJT on 16 December 2019, 17:55:23
Had a text this afternoon apparently from paypal saying my account was under review and to log on to some site or other otherwise my account could be cancelled.I've only ever used paypal to make payments to such as e-bat etc. Has anyone else had such a text or is this something bogus?

Bogus by the sound of it ...I get several emails/text each month advising account details are locked or un authorised use and to log into link to reset.

I was advised once anything with a link attached is a scam so I ignore them all now and none of my accounts have ever stopped working

It has scam written all over it.
We've had several calls recently re our Amazon Prime acc being hacked .... tried several times to block it. We don't have or want Amazon Prime.

I bought a new washing machine a couple of weeks ago (White goods thread?  ;D) and this afternoon had a phone call where the guy told me that my washing machine's warranty had expired.  ::)

He hung up quickly when I started laughing!  ;D

PayPal have a dedicated fraud email address. Forward it and then completely delete it from your email  :y

It was the fact it came in text form that made me wonder as I've had a paypal account for about 20yrs now and I've never had a text message from them before this one.Have now passed the info on to paypal and will see what if anything arises from it.

R.  That's from my uncle in bongo bongo land, he has £30millions, he needs to move into your account, as he doesn't want to pay tax.... Or is it from my grandpa in chonky chinko who needs his enhancement paying for,  ;D :),,, or for a boy lady who love you long time, for Amazon giftty cards. ;D..

Yes, I have had similar messages or phone calls, or at least ones intending to scam from Paypal.............................and.............

                                                 Amazon Prime
                                                 BT
                                                 Inland Revenue
                                                 TV Licencing
                                                "My Bank"
                                                 Dyson Servicing

Plus others that I have forgotten!

Bloody nuisance, but I just ignore them, with some facts being forwarded to Action Fraud when possible (not that does much good!) and not so politely telling them what they can do if speaking to a so called human ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D ;)
