Replaced both level sensor on car for headlights and still have no error message on dash

Low fld vis


When ignition turned on and turn headlights on they move slightly down slightly jerky stop then message is on screen on dash.

Could it be anything other than sensors on arms as said both been replaced. Little arms are staying attached.

As Al says likely to be adjusters - take them out and tip from side to side if they rattle and the reflectors flop around you need to take them apart and replace the plastic adjusters or replace the whole headlight.

People always assume that the message means a sensor problem, unfortunately you need Tech2 to access the codes in the headlight ecu...

you don't need to remove them to check for broken adjusters. Simply pull the rubber cover off as if you were going to change a bulb, and with a finger wiggle any part of the reflector or bulb holders you can reach. If you can make it move, then the adjuster is knackered.

Cheers guys so if it adjusters can new ones be bought

thing is,how does the system know that the adjusters are broken.they fix the top of the reflector (adjustment)whereas the motor moves the bottom of the reflector.
when i got mine one of the adjusters was definately broken as the beam was miles out and reflector loose at top. no error messages thou.
they can be replaced without taking headlamp apart( removing lense ) but fiddly .

Bulb cover off and inside of light rattling around.. so thinking thats my issue..

Is lense needed to be removed and inner removed to get to it or can ot all be done leaving light intact.

Is lens needed to be removed and inner removed to get to it or can it all be done leaving light intact.

You have to remove the lamp from the car.
Put it in the oven for 10mins at the lowest temperature you can get.
That will reactivate the gunge that seals the lens to the lamp.
You can then gently pry the lens off, and fit your new adjuster. Run an M5 tap through it first.
Be very careful of the silvered components; the finish is very delicate!
Clean everything, and reassemble.
Stick it back in the oven to make the sealant effective.
30minutes per lamp once it's off the car.

That's not what I found. Spent ages poncing about like a hairdresser, without any success. 10 minutes in the oven meant the lens peeled off effortlessly, and I used the time to strip the other lamp.

I used neither. Just sliced carefully through the glue with a Stanley knife, replaced the adjuster & reassembled cold ... never had a problem

Removed both headlights one is perfect. Otherside was rattling around. Found it adnuster to be broken.

Oven 5 mins  cover came of easy. Adjuster remvoed. Gonna machine one out of aluminium

Refit and put light back on .. still think its level sensors though as other light would surely move
